RAY HIGH SCHOOL Corpus Christi Texas 1 I vfllllflllllllllv During this past year we have had m a n y thrilling exper- iences. It has been a year packaged with surprises, fun, changes and memories. Many of these are pictured in this edition of the Silver Spur. As you look through this book, stop and think of the past- the victory on the football field, six weeks tests, the Fa- vorites Dance ,--and remem- ber how you have laughed, wept, shouted and loved '5'7's varieties. 'llflllllillllllln The Silver Spur Staff takes pleasure in dedicating this yearbook to the W. B. Ray Administration and Faculty. The students have looked to them for leadership, knowl- edge, and wisdom, each of which has been given freely and unselfishly. We, of the staff, as well as the student body, wish to express our appreciation for a job well done. THE T957 SITVEH SPUH PHESETTTS S TTATTTTTTTTZS UI. B. The joy of knowing what we have accomplished and the challenge that lies ahead are a part of it all. As we walk this road knowing that there is an ever present Guide to help us, let us think back to the pastg to the hard work, the quiet rustle of paper during tests, the high spirited yells at football games, the many good times, and to the Senior Class of '57. Let us know that though this is the end, it is also the beginning. 56 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President . ...,.,... .......,A,4.,,A,.,..A....,................,,..,....,.,,,,........... ...... D . E. The hard work and many hours of drill and practice give fine results at the half time shows during the football season. The pep rallies wouldn't be the same without their real gone music. Ther band is directed by Mr. Ray Chiorgno. Mr. Chiorgno has done a fine job with the band during this year, his first at Ray. Our hearts swell with pride when we hear the mention of The Band of the Fight- ing Texans. Out in front of the band this year are our majorettes, Dorothy Moody, Susan Smith, Nancy Mangum, Jean Flint, and feature twirl- er, Janie Mays. Wearing their scarlet and silver uni- forms, they added color to each splendid half-time show. ,,,,....-av BAND OFFICERS President ,..... Robert Olson Vice-President . . STUDENT CUUHCIL ------ The Student Council strives to improve condi- tions in the school and community, to encourage more and better participation by students and faculty in school activities, and to serve as the voice of the student body in all matters concerning the students of Ray High School. In an effort to attain this goal, many activities and projects are planned and spon- sored by the students who are chosen to serve as representatives in the Council. One of the activities of the Student Council is the Leakey Workshop. Held at H. E. Butt Foundation Camp in Leakey, Texas every year, this workshop not only teaches the new council how to work effectively together, but orientates the new representative to parliamentary procedure and the work of the Student Council. The Student Council is also putting its Foreign Relations plans into effect this year. These plans, as put forth by Jerry North and Jerry Osborne who visited Europe last summer as part of the NASC European Tour, are exemplified in the possible com- l ing of a Foreign Exchange Student to Ray High School.
