The actors have taken their last bow, had their final encore be- fore closing the records until next year. lt was a great year for the Fightin' Texans . Although not much was expected from them, their magnificent scoring machine rolled through ten straight regular season games without feeling the sting of defeat. They dug deep into their bag of courage to crush out three great scores in the last half to win bi-district. But courage, spirit, and heart were not enough when they ran up against the great Ganders in the semi-final clash. They went down to defeat, ending a great season, but not before every boy had given everything he had in a vain effort to stop that Gander eleven. Looking over the squad, we find no outstanding stars. It was 0 B town 34 IME an organization of teamwork that made them mature into greatness. The team always came first, there was no thought of individual glory. The team spirit was something no one could measure or weigh, it was iust present, and it was felt by every team they played. Such are the Fightin' Texans. All throughout the season they showed by their fight and spirit that they lived up to their motto, We Won't Be Beat. '11 1' . With the help of a blocked quick-kick, deep in the Ray end-zone, the Tigers led 13-0 at intermission. The first half was all Waco and it seemed like the end of the Texans, after ten straight victories. But the second half the fighting Texans showed the crowd of around 8,000 the way they got their name. The Texans came back in the second half to score iust the amount of points necessary to advance into the state semi-final game against Baytown. Buddy Tedder seemed to be fighting for his life when he got the ball, and it paid off in two scores for him. Crisp, who called a great game seemed to be a cinch to land in one of the all-state teams. Fred Morgan's dazzling run after aflat pass from Crisp made the already standing Texan fans scream for delight when he eluded tackler after tackler and with excellent blocking ran over fifty yards for the score. This put the Texans out in front for the first time 14-13. lt was short lived however, for the Waco team ran the kick-off back for a touchdown and made it 20-14.
