The highlight of this year's assemblies was having Miss America of 1959, Miss Marilyn Van Derbur, as a speaker. Our student body president, Audrey Sullins, met her at Camp Chealey and asked her if she would speak to us. She received a several minute standing ovation for her excellent speech. Pictured is Audrey and Miss Van Derbur. Student Council takes as a project every year to decorate the Christmas tree for the students. MEMORIES To some of you, this book is the first look at high school life. To others, it is only the completion of another school year. But to some, it will be the last and closing chapter to a life at high school never to be forgotten. As we depart from high school and go out into a new life, there will always be that pause of unforgotten memories at Rawlins High School. These memories are a past, living still in heart and mind; although these events may never occur again, they will live forever to be recalled in years to come--to be reconsidered and re-evaluated in price paid and values received. This book is filled with memories of the past--a sign and hope of the future through its meaning of an educational system free and fruitful. As we look through this book, we will find that it is a symbol of our life at RHS--the hopes, dreams and disappointments we shared--and will remember many years from now when we leaf through the pages of the 1967 Round-Up. We will remember these treasures of memories—the teachers with their tests, the excitement and activity of Outlaw Day the rousing tournaments, the thrill of formal dances, and the fun that was shared in the various organizations. And so, we hand you this memory of your high school life. We only ask you to be proud to look back on RHS as your school. 2 The Round-Up Staff
