Lee haa been the able head of our school system for the past 20 years. His assistance has been very gratefully recognized by all the classes, organizations, and persons within the school, and also by the public, creating in them a very avid enthusiasm in school activities. Hr. Lee haa spurred the desire for higher standards in R. H. S. from the begin-ing. He has been very successful1 in doing so and we hope he will be even more so in years to come. He commands the deep respect of all students with whom he is associated, and he haa their thanks for the many things made possible for them through him. ' ' T r r r [ [ r r r r i i i i i 6 0 nacipa I Thim year we welcome into our school a new principal, William E. Schwiering. He replaced H. H. Moyer, who last year retired from his position as principal. Bill’ Schwiering attended Marque t te Vniversity in Milwaukee, Wisconsin receiving a B. S . degree from there. He also received a M.S. degree from the University of Wyoming, and has done one Year's work on his P.H.D. degree. Before coming here he taught in the Saratoga school system for three years, was principal there for five years, and superintendent there for two years. The next three years he spent as Petroleum Engineer at the refinery in Sinclair. The effects of Mr. Schwiering's fine work have shown t hems elves already. The Student Council is very active this year and has more power than ever before. A Clean-up Week' ridded the school of untidy lockers and halls. Chronic absentees have been halted. He is known especial ly for his fair-and square dealing with all students and student prob 1 ems. This is, however, just the beginning for Mr. Schwiering. He plans to increase the power of the Student Council until they have complete control of school activities. He is very much in favor of wel1-planned assemblies and student activities of all kinds. By joint meetings of Student Council and teachers he is forwarding teacher-student relations. We know Mr. Schwiering will be successful in all ventures he might under take, and we wish him all the luck possible for the future. 7 SCHOOL BOARD Robert B. Besides getting acquainted with going to school ’upstairs’, we entertained the sophomores with the annual Freshman Return Formal. The following school term found us well versed in the traditions of R.H.S. With Bill Laramore presiding and Mr. Sharp advising, we sophomores tole rate d the lower class-men and entertained them at a Reception. Our class contributed several boys who were active in football, baske tball, and track. By the time we were juniors, we had lost 35 of our versatile class members; but those of us who remained were determined to come 'smiling through’ . An Oklahoma lad, Buford Young, was elected president and Mr. Glen Cheney took over the advisory duties. We staged 'Spring Green’ as our dramatic presentation. We received second prize for our float in the Outlaw Day Parade and on May 16 we were hosts to the Seniors at the annual prom and banquet. Typical of our gaiety, we used the Circus theme. September 6, 1946 saw 72 students ‘down front and center’ in the auditorium for we were the Seniors of Rawlins High and we could now occupy the seats we had coveted for three long years. We had several of our members dressed in regal robes at various times during the year. Besides our class president. Dee Peverley, we contributed the Outlaw Day Queen, Maxine Williams; the Student Body President, Chris Eliopulos; Stampded Day K ing, Bill Laramore; and R-Club Prexy, Hawley Pixler. We decorated the gymnas ium for one last time. The occasion was the Senior Ball; the last social function for our class. Senior week activities high-lighted by Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises culminated four successful years of our high school career. CLASS HISTORY Of, course, we started out 'green' , but spent the biggest part of the time being red (blushing, that is) since we were so green. With Mrs. Margaret Albers as our sponsor; Raymond Roberts, President; Gerald Jordan, Vice President; Ed Steinauer, Sec retary- Treasurer; and Charles Cooper, representa-t ive, we put in a swell year. In gratitude to the Sophomores, we gave the Freshman Return. In September 1945, we started back to school as we 11- seasoned Sophomores. That year the boys were quite powerful and chose as our class officers De-lores Ash lock, President; Charles Cooper, Vice President; Alex Eliopulos, Secretary- Treasurer; and Bill McKay, representative. To keep us going straight, Mrs. Albers was again our sponsor. We started the year off with a bang by giving the Freshman Reception. Time marched on and brought to an end another successful school year. 'Upperclassmen'! Yes, that was a mighty wonder ful feeling as we once again invaded R. H. S., but this time as the 'big fellows' . Elections immediately took place so we could get to going. Charles Cooper was elected President; Diane Parker, Vice President; Eldine Foster, Secretary-Tr easurer; and Bob Lambertson, Representative. Mr. Fred Schneider took over the management of us then. Members of our class displayed real cooperation and talent by giving as our Junior class play, 'A Ready Made Family' , which was proclaimed a real success. We gave a Sadie Hawkins dance featuring a regular Dogpatch race, and the annual Junior Senior Prom and banquet. Our class has shown a fine display by students participating in athletics, music, and scholastic achievements. We are now all ready to fill the shoes of the Seniors and are anxious to take our place on the top rung of the ladder. 20 Charles Cooper, President Jean Achenbach Beverly Albright Jack Allan Delorea Aahlock Joan Banghar t Betty Jo Beedie Joan Bowen Elaine Brown Margaret Brown Gracia Campbell Patricia Clauae Emmy Cochran Char lea Cooper Jack Cramer Marian Cullen Marjorie Davia Marahall Denniaon Blaine Dlckenaon Milea Duetln Ann Beat Alex Bllopuloa Eldlne Foster 21 Eugenia Franks Virginia Ciaacock John Hay Patricia Hedrick Gene Hittner Vivian Hootman BUI Humphreys Gerald Jordan Bonnie Kaufman Clare Kazmerchak Bob Lambe rt son Jowette Lawrence Evangeline Lopez Ida Lovato Neil McCauley Bill McKay John McIntosh Dora Jane Oliver Frances O’Melia Doris Robe rt son Patty Rae Ryan Ernest Sadova1 Frank Sannes Bob Sintek Mar i jane Thompson Donna Synhorst Madeline Vlalpando Frank Slater Daniel Troyer 23 OFFICERS Bob McPhie, Pres.; Pat Lally, V-Pres.; JoAnn Gholson, Sec y-Treas.; Neal Kirk, Representative; Miss Underwood. During our Freshman year we chose as our leaders: Bill Ringenburg, Bob McPhie, JoAnn Gholson, and Jscque Willis. We gave the Sophomores the t rad it iona1 Sophomore Return and ended thst year very successfully. We again entered the halls of Rawlins High as Sophomores with one year of experience and with three more years to go. This year we chose Bob McPhie, Pat Lally, JoAnn Gholson, and Neal Kirk as our leaders. In the earlier part of the year we gave the annual Freshman Reception for the up and coming Freshmen which was later returned to us with the Sophomore ReturnThis year ended very successfully also.
