Junior Class Class History In 1943 we entered the portals of Rawlins High School as green and inexperienced Freshmen, under the sponsorship of Mr. Sharp. We elected Dick Keefe, Betty Sjolin, Bill Lancaster and Chris Eliopulos as our leaders for our first year. We thanked the sophomores for the Freshman Reception by giving a Freshman Return. The Outlaw Day Parade was also an outstanding event of the year. Our first year ended successfully and we were now looking forward to more social functions and also studies as sophomores. In the fall of 1944 we started our sophomore year with a ‘‘bang” by placing second in the Outlaw Day Parade. This year as our leaders we selected Bill Laramore as president, assisted by Betty Sjolin, Jack Williams and Pat Ashley, with Mr. Sharp still our sponsor. We joined with the Freshmen this year in presenting the Victory Dance. We also contributed several boys to our football, basketball and track teams. Our second year came to a successful close and we were again looking forward to a third year in Rawlins High. In September of 1945, we once again entered Rawlins High, only to find ourselves automatically juniors, a fact of which we were very proud. We changed sponsors this year to Mr. Cheney. We again contributed to Outlaw Day by winning second prize in the parade. Our first big event of the year was the presentation of the Junior Play, “Spring Green.” The play proved to be a great success. The event we had been looking forward to for three years came when we honored the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom cn May 16. Another successful year draws to a close and we are now looking forward to a year we will never forget — that of being Seniors in Rawlins High School. BUFORD YOUNG, President.
