Foreword ♦ ♦ ♦ The success of a yearbook steins not from what it has in common with other yearbooks or publications, but from what it has extraordinary to itself. We could never hope to record the complete history of such a climatic year as this one has been for us, both in our school and in our national affairs. We have not attempted to do so. We have tried to record enough of our school and the Outlaws that in years hence this Round-Up will ever provide a happy source of memories and pleasures. If we, in some small way, can convey this picture, we will have caught the picture of this year and what it has meant to the Seniors, who are leaving the school to walk on into the future.

Dedication . . . The success of yearbooks stems not from what it has in common with any other yearbooks, but from what it has extraordinary to itself. We have attempted to catch the spirit of these “OUTLAWS” this year. We hare dedicated this edition of the “ROUNDUP” to Sports because vve believe that good, clean, sports develop fine people which are vital to the type of life that we are fighting for. Good fellowship, sportsmanship, strong, healthy bodies, fine clean minds are but a few of the finer things that are encouraged by sports. Our record this year in the f:eld of sports has been a fine one ... District Champions in football . . . . voted Team Of The Year .... Second place in District Basketball .... Fourth place in State Basketball . . . . but finer than these titles is the knowledge that our boys knew the finer things in sports, which helped them to win these titles for the school and us. Everyone no matter whether he actually helped to win the title, or not, if he is truly interested, has done something for sports and is helping to perpetuate sports, has done something for democracy. Many of our boys are going to war and we hope that the things they learned in this school, through sports and other activities willl help them to show themselves as the finest specimens of American Manhood . . . . God Bless Them All .... We could never hope to record the complete history of such a climatic year. We have not attempted to do so, but if we have in some small way conveyed a picture of the vital, growing, evolving force that is democracy we shall have caught the picture of 1944. THE ROUNDUP STAFF
