The Broncho Busters The Seniors FIRST QUARTER On September 5, 1939 a green and inexperienced team waiKea ouu on the floor under the coaching oil Miss Magiii. As me game started we were glad to see tnat tne star player oi tne Sophomores, whose name was Initiation, was warming tne oencn. In his piace the Sopnomores, shoved in a marvelous player called Freshman Reception. For our captains in this quarter we chose Mary Joan McGarry, Chester Javans, Bill Briggs, and Martha Lynch. We rolled in two points when we entered our first Outlaw Day float and gave the return dance for the Sophomores. During this quarter, better known as our Freshman year, we rolled in many points in all other fields. SECOND QUARTER We started our Sophomore year not as a green, inexperienced team, but a team with experience under its belt. Our first two points in this quarter came fast as we gave the welcome dance for the Freshmen. As captain we chose James Ingram, with Humio Inouye, Charles McNees and Kenneth Miller as assistants. Our team in the second quarter turned on the steam and Outlaw Day had its glory for the Sophomores. Our basketball team captured second place in the school. The referee blew his whistle and we took a well deserved rest, better known as “vacation.” THIRD QUARTER Our team started this year as Juniors. Miss Insley, as capable a coach as there is, took Miss Magill’s place. This quarter the Juniors under the leadership of Kenneth Miller, Kay Petersen, Mary Joan McGarry and Bill Carlson, decided to get down to work and roll in some points. We started with a successful Junior Play, “Through the Keyhole.” Then the class of Juniors took first place in school basketball. Not being satisfied with these points we rapidly followed them with first place in track. But our big event was our honoring of the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. After a very successful year as Juniors the quarter ended. FOURTH QUARTER We are now entering the last quarter in the game of education with the title of Seniors tagged on us, under the capable leadership of Kay Petersen, Mary Joan McGarry, Charlotte Dixon, and Vern Cole. The majority of the students on this team of Seniors liked the title, but some knew that this would be their last game in Rawlins High School. Determined to make this quarter one to remember they took first place in basketball. Then they swished in some more points when they gave the successful play, “Ring Around Elizabeth” and the Senior dance. As the quarter grew shorter the Juniors gave us a very grand send-off at the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. The quarter finished as we stepped off the platform with our diplomas and a tear in our eyes. This team of Senior students want to thank the Faculty for their splendid coaching given to us during our four years of school. Remember us—We’ll remember you. —KAY PETERSEN, Senior Class President
