Junior Class... Junior Class 060675 KENNETH MILLER .................-...,.,...,.., PRESIDENT 'D MARY JOAN McGARRY --- --- SECRETARY-TREASURER KAY PETERSEN --- -- VICE PRESIDENT Junior Class History September 5, 1939, marked a high point in the lives of approximately one hundred students, for on that day we formally entered the portals of Rawlins High School, under the competent spon- sorship of Miss Magill. As Freshmen, we were not disappointed by the discontinuance of the traditional initiation. Instead, the Sophomores delighted us by the annual reception. Class el- ections put Mary Joan McGarry, Chester Evans, Bill Briggs,and Martha Lynch in the ofiicial po- sitions of our class. We Freshmen proved our mettle when we entered our first Outlaw Day float and gave the return dance for the Sophomgores. Our first year in Rawlins High School ended after many successes in every field. The fall of 1940 found the students of our .fair class no longer green Freshmen, but Sopho- mores. We started the year off with a bang with the official welcome dance for the Freshmen. The students decided upon James Ingram as their president, with Humio Inouye, Charles McNees, and Kenneth Miller as assistant leaders. We kept up our good name and continued our suc- cess. ' Outlaw Day proved to be a big day for the Sophomores. Our basketball team captured second place in the school. School ended with a determination to be even better next year. Our same class, considerably reduced now, again entered Rawlins High last fall, this time as Juniors. That same determination to succeed was still uppermost in our minds. We were grieved to learn that our sponsor, Miss Magill, would no longer be with us, but things looked bright for the Juniors when we learned that our class had been placed under the capable guidance of Miss lnsley. Kenneth Miller was elected president this year, capably supported by Kay Petersen, Mary Joan McGarry, and Bill Carlson. Our first big event was the successful Junior Play, Through the Keyhole. Success after success in every field in school was ours. We captured first place in school basketball, this victory being rapidly followed by a. first place in track. Ken- neth Miller was chosen to head the student body for the succeeding year. The outstanding social event of the year was our honoring of the Seniors at the J unior-Senior Banquet and Prom. After a most successful year for us, school ends. Next year we'll be Seniors, with higher aspirations than ever. Kenneth Miller, Junior Class President.
