he Seniors... STUDENT GOVERNMENT Student government throughout the years of Rawlins High School has been directed by a group of students elected every year by the Student Body. L15 This year the Student Council started out on what appeared as the usual routine. Yet, before the year ended, the press of modern events had made student government a greater necessity than before. We were at war! To keep the light of democracy burning there were War stamps to sell and students to teach in the ways of democracy. Undoubtedly, many chances to achieve these two ends were neg- lected and passed by. We have, however, had a certain degree of success. The success has been gained solely by the Student Council. They are the silent members of your government who do the work and sit back while another receives the plaudits of the crowd. Any congratulation extended to this administration is due the Student Council. J. Duane Jones. High School Ojfcers J. DUANE JONES Jonesy Student Body President BEVERLY LEE QUIGLEY HQuig,7! Class of l94Z.... Senior Class Oficers WALLACE A.. PETERSEN llpetefl President EVELYN TURNER llTinyP! Vice President . Lemon Secretary SANDRA MacKAY 6lMaCk7! Treasurer In September of 1938, a wide-eyed, timid class of freshmen came into Rawlins High, destined to make history Among the first major ex- periences was the ordeal of initiation. Bolwing to tradition and with the blessings of elder classmates, the froshies went to the summit of R hill to white-wash the UR. Later these high school beginners could be seen tiptoeing down the halls, loaded with books and peering over the tops of their burdens. The next year saw them. much more accustomed! to their routines and well upon the road to success. Actively participating in any school event which may have demanded their services, these lively sophs were highly acclaimed for their scholastic achievement, their good sports- manship, and their eager willingness to be of help. W'hen. they had chalked up another milestone, they came bounding into their junior year. Walking down the halls, one could always spot a junior with his high-polished apple and his eye out for a pretty girl. The J uniorl class play, Professor How Could You ? was presented to the public in April, 1941, and brought into light part of the genius embodied in this group of spirited students. In May of the same year, the Juniors honored the seniors with the annual banquet and prom decorated in blue and silver. With an emphatic good- bye to that year, they took a hop, skip and jump, and landed squarely into their last year. Having taken over the annual and the paper, the high and mighty seniors ruled with ans iron hand with one eye slyly fixed on graduation and the other on the underclassmen. In May they enacted a. ''super-thriller-driller'' entitled A Murder Has Been Arranged, and in the same month they were given a royal send-off at the banquet and prom. The dawn of May 28 found a class of tearful graduates donning their .caps and gowns for their final hand-shaking with Rawlins High. Here'S hoping they never forget and are never forgotten by their Alma Mater. LAMOIINE FRANCIS ROBERTS
