. . . In Memoriam . . . RICHARD WALLENSTEIN BEDE BETTY WADE Born Sept. 8, 1923 Died Apr. 23, 1931. The Annual Staff of 1942 proudly salutes Henry Wallenstein, killed in action at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Although Dick was a member of the class of 1941, his cheerful attitude and vigor cannot be forgotten by any of those who knew him. Born in Chehalis, Wash- ington, and having lived here for sim years, he came to Rawlins with his par- ents to attend the Rawlins schools until entry into the United States Navy in De- cember of 1940. His numerous friends in Rawlins High School remember his broad smile and lively antics and remembering, gladly say, I knew him when .... For Richard is one of that staggering number of great .Americans whose names, though not in our histary books, will live in our hearts forever. Dedication. .. . mhis year, a. decisive turning point in the history of our country, we, the senior class of 1942, dedicate this Round-Up to the boys in service. For they are the backbone of the nation, the representatives and the pride of all the people. We, who remain at home, see them leave their homes and those- they love. We view the breathing, throbbing symbol of courage, hope, and all the ideals for which they will fight and some will die. We are proud to hold up our heads, knowing that we are sending away the best among us. The boys in service on land, sea and in the' air, are offering their strength, their ambi- tion, their most precious possessions, their lives, to maintain for us our freedom and to bring to us ultimate victory. For them we shall give our utmost to the duties to which we have been assigned, and for them shall we always keep the home fires of liberty burning.
