The Roundup 1936 JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY CLASS OFFICERS Frank Miller President Evalyn Robertson Vice President Billy Jernigan Secretary-Treasurer Marie Spataro Class Representative Miss Josie Lacer Hays Sponsor On one September morning in 1933, some seventy of us entered the high school building with sophisticated smiles and pounding hearts—we were Freshmen. We had been given new worlds to conquer, and probably never again will we experience the happiness and pride that we felt on that first day. Our contribution to school activities that initial year of our stay was an interesting and successful assembly. As Sophomores we proved our merit by our high scholastic standing. Although our Christmas dance was a huge success, we had lost our self-importance of the preceding year. Now, after a successful Junior year, we realize how proud we are of our school and how much it means to us. Under the capable sponsorship of Miss Hays, and the leadership of Frank Miller, our President, we have been able to number our accomplishments as many—the most important, nowever, being a successful “Follies” and a much enjoyed Junior Prom. We look with pleasure upon returning next fall as Seniors, and for ourselves may we be permitted to add: Happy are we met, happy have we been. Happy may we part, and happy meet again. —William Felton. The Roundup 1936 SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY CLASS OFFICERS James Stauss President Enid Shaw Vice President Billy LeMasters Secretary-Treasurer Kathleen MacKay Class Representative Mr. F. C. Rawlins Sponsor On September 4, 1934, we entered the Rawlins High School as Freshmen with Mr. Rawlins as our class sponsor. A meeting was held to elect our class officers. Those chosen were Merle Thomason, President; James Stauss, Vice President; Enid Shaw, Secretary-Treasurer; and Maurine O’Donnell, Class Representative. Our entrance was marked by the regular initiation, painting of the “R” without the supervision of the Sophomore Class, and the Reception Dance. On March 22 we were hosts to the other classes at a dance. As Sophomores we began our year by electing James Stauss, President; Enid Shaw, Vice President; Billy LeMasters, Secretary-Treasurer; and Kathleen MacKay, Class Representative. We gave the Freshman Reception Dance, and this affair was a great success. On February 13 we sponsored an assembly in the form of an amateur hour. Our Leap Year Dance held on Friday, March 13, also proved a decided success. With Mr. Rawlins as our sponsor, we have enjoyed our past two years immensely and anticipate our forthcoming years in high school with keen interest —Kathleen MacKay.
