SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Max Foster ............. President June Measures .... Secretary-Treasurer Henry Swanson ....... Vice President Lester Erb ..... Class Representative Mr. Howard W. Wood ................. Sponsor On September 2, 1932 some ninety of us ambitious Freshmen entered R. H. S. Mr. Wood, our sponsor, introduced us to High School life. We inaugurated the idea of painting the “R” without the help of the Sophomore Class. Our Sophomore year was marked by a dance we sponsored for the rest of the students As we entered our Junior year, the Class of 36 really felt we had attained a memorable place in R. H. S. We undertook the very successful project of selling punch and cake at the dances in order to raise money for the Prom. Candy sales at basketball games, and the Junior Follies gave us the remainder of our required financial equipment. “The Queen’s Nose,” a one-act play, and a minstrel show made our Junior Follies an outstanding success. To our great satisfaction, we successfully entertained the Class of ’35. the Faculty and the Board of Education at the Junior and Senior Prom on May 25. A dinner was served at the Masonic Temple, and then dancing was enjoyed in the colorfully decorated gym. As the Class of ’36 climbed to the last rung of the ladder of our high school careers and became seniors, we felt we had an honored position to fill. “Senior Day” was enjoyably spent on April 17. The Senior Class entertained the student body at an assembly which consisted of two plays. The very delightful Senior Ball was given in the evening. On May 22 we presented “Say It With Flowers.” a three-act comtdy. As a final farewell we were entertained by the Junior Class at the Prom on May 25. The class wishes to thank our sponsor, Mr. Wood, for his constant interest in our welfare, and to wish him happiness in the future. To each member of the class we extend our sincere w ish of joy and success in the years to follow.—Ruth Stratton. The Roundup 1936 JEANNE RAKER—“Jeanne” G. A. We had been given new worlds to conquer, and probably never again will we experience the happiness and pride that we felt on that first day. Our contribution to school activities that initial year of our stay was an interesting and successful assembly. As Sophomores we proved our merit by our high scholastic standing. Although our Christmas dance was a huge success, we had lost our self-importance of the preceding year. Now, after a successful Junior year, we realize how proud we are of our school and how much it means to us. Under the capable sponsorship of Miss Hays, and the leadership of Frank Miller, our President, we have been able to number our accomplishments as many—the most important, nowever, being a successful “Follies” and a much enjoyed Junior Prom. We look with pleasure upon returning next fall as Seniors, and for ourselves may we be permitted to add: Happy are we met, happy have we been. Happy may we part, and happy meet again. —William Felton. C. Rawlins______________Sponsor On September 4, 1934, we entered the Rawlins High School as Freshmen with Mr. Rawlins as our class sponsor. A meeting was held to elect our class officers. Those chosen were Merle Thomason, President; James Stauss, Vice President; Enid Shaw, Secretary-Treasurer; and Maurine O’Donnell, Class Representative. Our entrance was marked by the regular initiation, painting of the “R” without the supervision of the Sophomore Class, and the Reception Dance. On March 22 we were hosts to the other classes at a dance. As Sophomores we began our year by electing James Stauss, President; Enid Shaw, Vice President; Billy LeMasters, Secretary-Treasurer; and Kathleen MacKay, Class Representative. We gave the Freshman Reception Dance, and this affair was a great success. On February 13 we sponsored an assembly in the form of an amateur hour. Our Leap Year Dance held on Friday, March 13, also proved a decided success. With Mr. Rawlins as our sponsor, we have enjoyed our past two years immensely and anticipate our forthcoming years in high school with keen interest —Kathleen MacKay. Our spirit remained undaunted, although we were “run through the mill” several times. We also painted the “R,” as is the custom, and that task completed our informal initiation. On October 4, we were greeted formally by the rest of R. H. S. at the Freshman Reception. Since we were then full-fledged “Freshies,” the class decided to give a return social affair. So the class gave a dance on November 8, and the other three classes were invited. This class, now as it leaves its dearly beloved title behind, is very grateful to the faculty, especially to Miss Carveth, who guided it through its most trying year of high school life. We hope we have gained sufficiently in stature and wisdom as not to be so trying during the next year. —Robert Warriner.
