JOHN STARK RAVENSGROFT John Stark Raveiiseroft. t11e first Bishop of t11e liplst-opal llioeese of North Carolina, was b01'11 May 17, 1772, at Rave11seroft, the family estate near What is now Petersburg, Virginia. As a child he was taken to ireland by l1is family, wfhere at eight years of age he lost his father.
