Carlson U Band The Ravenna High School marching band made several public appear- ances during the fall season by participating in the half time ceremonies at our local football games. The goal of our marching season came October 14th at the annual Harvest of Harmony celebration held in Grand lsland. The fifty four members of the band experienced the thrill of bringing back, for the third consecutive year the Superior rating in the Class B division. Lois Bock was Ravenna's 1951 Miss Harvest of Harmony Representative. The first event of our concert season came December 6th when we par- ticipated in the Three Loups Band Conference, in Broken Bow. Mr. M. D. Hal- leck, instructor at the Chadron State Teachers College was the guest conductor. Ioan Ehlers and Russel Love represented the Ravenna instrumental division at the All-State Music Clinic November 16, 17, and 18. December 20th, the R. H. S, music department presented for the first time a Christmas Concert. Featured instrumental soloists for the evening were Bonnalynne Standage, alto saxophone solo, and Russell Love, Cornet solo. The District Music Contest will be held in North Platte April 13th and 14th. Ensembles and soloists as well as the band will participate in this annual event. The final performance of the 1951 concert band will be the Annual Spring Concert April 26th. An added feature of the music department was the Conducting classes. Mr. Folsom gave able assistance to seven promising conductors: R. Love, I. Adam, I. Ehlers, M. Chramosta, B. Standage, R. Standage, and R. Schuller. On February 19th, the Lions Club sponsored a banquet for Mr. Folsom, all band members, and their parents. Russell Love played two cornet solos. -371 FOURTH ROW A Remertson B Standuge C Carter D Selfcrt N Zlmpfer M Jarosz M MOIltZ S Btoulllette W Psota D Calvm J Koclemba D Calvm O Mlner M Barnts S Knerl D Ohlmann B Struble THIRD ROW E Lade A Lfusen L Bock J Terry L Betkc C Stalk B Kllha A Shroedex M Aden K Dymck K Bauman S Gudgcl J Velt A Dusek J Ehlers G Bedko D HHITIS L Muhlbach Mx Folsom SECOND ROW M Chmmostd T Tatem S Seuy A HCIVLIT.
