FLYING DOWN TO RIO On june 30, we started on the first leg of our wonderful trip to Rio de Janeiro for the 36th Eucharistic Congress After a short stay in Miami, we were off for Lima, Peru There we were met by Mother Milagro s neice and her husband, who showed us the capitol of Peru by early morning Soon we were off again, to Sao Paulo, crossing the entire width of South America Staying two weeks in the coffee capitol we met many Assumption students who were most hospitable Notre Mere arrived soon after lending excitement to the convent She was met by about 30 students of the Assumption in Sao Paulo, who were overjoyed to see her again We gave her bouquets of flowers and showered her with the cries of Viva Notre Mere Rio at last' This city of great beauty was filled with tourists from all over the world who had come to the Eucharistic Congress Assumption students from France, Nicaragua, Argentina, Brazil, ElSalvador and Mexico, joined with the 300 000 people at the Congress in universal prayer The Papal Legate and the lugh dignitaries of the Church from far and near gave the Congress a regal atmosphere Sightseeing was a must The statue of the Christus, Sugar Loaf and Copa Cabanna will never be forgotten But most of all about our stay in Rio, we shall remember thatall peoples can be united in prayer What an impression it was to be present at High Mass in the Congress Square with thousands of students receiving Holy Communion from the hands of S00 priests! Our trip was almost over The plane left for New York on july 27th A whole month of new things and new places, new people and new experiences always to be remembered P
