Say. this is a hne group of young men and women we have here. You're Danny Persico, right? Why donlt you, as class president, tell the audience who the others are? Dari: Certainly. We have Harry Miller, vice-presidentg Ellen Winn, class accountant, Maria Rutlaiewicz, secretary, and the two student council repre- sentatives. Eva Hamlin and Dot Hansen. Azzzzozzzzcvrs How do you do? I imagine your senior year was quite a busy one. Dan, will you tell us briefly about your class? Dan: The first big eyent I recall was the dreamy Freshman Christmas Ball. After that carrie the usual class activities until 'Iune made the thoughts of graduation paramount in our minds. We were the first combined class to graduate from Coeymans under the co-operative plan. That sophomore year in Ravena. under the orqicership of Ezio Tozzi, Harry Miller, Margie Hansen and Joe Blicozzi was quite a get-acquainted yearg but young as we were, we managed to make our square dance and Shindig the talk of the town. When we returned as juniors with Harry Miller as our president, Willie Lee Lips- comb at his right hand, Ellen Winn to handle the finance and Margie Hansen to jot down the niinutes, the class really began to go places. We could still boast of profitable square dances, but even more important was the rightful pride we could take in our beautiful prom, Apple Blossom Ball. It netted us quite a profit, as well. Then we were seniors, rulers of the roost, planning and scraping for the Wlashington trip. The ham and turkey suppers delighted many a palate and the Cowbell Jamboree and Carnival set many a pair of feet dancing. Wie certainly put on a number of bake sales-but nothing was as important to us as our VVashington trip. Boy, it will long be remembered! The publishing of this yearbook and graduation ended our high school careers, liappy and wonderful ones for us all. The biggest boon to the new candy-selling idea was Alphonzo Brewer's lil, dis- play stand painted electric blue-and then, too, that snazzy awning to keep the Hersheys from melting away. It took a keen eye to snag someone to carry that con- traption downstairs. As a governing body of the school, this organization promoted the highly successful night football garlic and pur- chased a flag bearing the school emblem. Under the leadership of president Ellen Winng vice- president, Dot Hanseng secretary, Rose Bisconeg treasurer, Doris Stanton and with the capable advice of their advisor, Mrs. Tisdell, their club again supervised that all important day, the lsloving Up exercises. Susan Phillips, president and jimmy Farinelli, secretary and treasurer, are the officials of the Arts and Crafts Club along with Mr. Roney as advisor. Their meeting place, the shop, is continually buzzing with ambitious creatures making belts, billfolds, pins and wooden projects. Harry: Come right in and join us. This is the International Relations Club and welre discussing the question, Will Universal Military Training Stop War? Pete: It just couldn't, it would - - - Harry: just a minute now. Letls pick this up a little later and let our guest say what's on her mind. Announcer: Oh! I just came in to ask you about the club. Harry: Well, Gilda Altimari is secretary and there's a program committee which plans meetings. Mr. Wallace is here to pull us over the rough spots and I'm here as president. That's about all, other than the fact that we really get into some exciting discussions about current affairs. We've had 'fpanelsu which prepare the pros and cons of Z1 subject and a few movies. Best of all we like impromptu sessions. Off we go-to colleges that is-to Russell Sage, R.P.l. and others in the near-by area where each member of the College Club studied a particular phase of campus life to report back at one of the meetings. They left State College with quite a collegiate feeling after a tour through the buildings, dorms, fraternity and sorority houses. Miss Barrett, the advisor, was assisted by Certie O'Brien, president, Jimmy Sutton, vice-president, Alice O'Rourke, treasurer, Doris Stanton, secretary, and Maria Rutkiewicz, student council representative. An 85W average is as good as a passport into the Monday noon meetings of Honor Society. Norm Vosburgh, Harry Miller, Doris Stanton, Ruth Diederich, Jean Carriker and Mr. Wallace are president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, student council representative and advisor, respectively. The one-half day off each month was very popular with everybody and those lucky seniors not only had free bus rides to and from games but also white sweaters. A talent show and career day were both a success for the Honor Society of R.C.H.S. One would think that only boys would be interested in studying types of airplanes and fundamental theories of flight. However, any Tuesday morning would find as many girls as fellows in the Aviation Club. Mr. Kullman directed discussions of thc progress of aviation and men and women who have made contributions in the field of flight. The only oflicers were Margie Hansen, treasurer, and Helen Van Woert, student council representative. The Library Club started the year by electing Alice O'Rourke, president, Barbara Burns, vice-president, Helen Van Woert, secretary, and Ella Mae WVickham, student council repre- sentative. A visit to the State Library and Educational Building gave them many new ideas for their library work. Their only money raising project was a dime hour. The Dramatics Club, more commonly known as the Wigs, did a very good job of putting on the Christmas Pageant this year. President Casey, secretary Fiecher, and student council representative Biscone made up the list of officers for this organization. Tonight wc have a guest. Fans, mect Howard Tucker, coach of Ravena High School. Cood evening, Howie. how about the dope on your cup-winners? Jlr. Tucker: Sure. Fd be glad to let you in 'on the team record. First of all comes football, and the greatest thrill in all the season's games was the one with Columbia. VVhen we took the Held and faced six of the forty-two rangy boys, it looked almost hopeless, but our small and aggressive team fought with the fury of Wildcats and beat a much heavier Columbia outfit into submission. Announcer: S0 that was the wa' in which 'ou have ke t the cu for so man f 5 3 P P 3 seasons? How about the other phases of sports? .Mn Tucker: Track, revived after an absence during the war years, got off to a sprint-and with a squad of twenty-six. Broad and high jumping, pole-vaulting, discus throwing, shot-putting and many turns around the track at Mosher Park were all on the spring training program. My colleague, Mr. Potter, instructed these fellows with unique ability and deserves all the credit for their success. Meets in Coxsackie. Chatham, Roessleville and the sectionals at Johnstown were all attended with excellent competitive spirit. The baseball boys, the undefeated batmen of R.C.H.S. stood out on the field, sizzling in the sun. Wlith a WHAM another triple went out to bring in the winning run against Columbia. Voorhcesville bowed to us in the play-off game at Hawkins Stadium, leaving us the only undcleatcd team in the league! Announcer: Thatls really a year's record! Did the boys carry on with the Varsity Club? Alf. Tucker: Yes, they did, and Rog Mulligan led 'em as head man. They put out the booklet-programs for the Coxsackie-Ravena night game which contained individual pictures of the members of both teams. There were frequent meetings on interpretation of rules of various sports, football, basketball, and baseball with practical illustrations in the gym. They also backed up a school-wide clean-up campaign. Announcer: But they couldn't have accomplished these things without your able leadership and instruction. We all know how well you've handled the sports and Page Thzriy seven . .
