prophecy Dear Bobbie: Although you may have felt neglected for the past week, I know you'll understand when I tell you all the startling bits of news I've collected. Of course, you remember my telling you about the contest sponsored by Dick Bailey of New York's largest newsroom. Since the eyes and hopes of so many people were on that round trip to Florida, no one could have been more surprised than I when the winner was announced. Imagine my winning! That trip to Florida was so revealing in so many ways! Upon my arrival I was direct'e-d to the Hotel Paretta, familiar name? But the surprises had just started. When I picked up the phone to call HBoo Rowe's Atomic Taxi, the voice of the '4Hello Girl was more than a litle familiar. Evelyn Conners Cthat girl has connectionsj was enjoying Florida weather as well as holding the chief switchboard operatofs position. I almost forgot' to tell you about my trip down. So much is happening I can't seem to stay with one train of thought. You know how excited I get about all these things! Upon my arrival at the station, 'gRed Capsl' Frank Radliff and Art Ulshoefer carried my baggage to the train-right past Conductor Stanton who was calling the train from the platform. It was a minute before I realized who he was. As I paused to pass the time of day, he told me that I,d find Marine Harry Ribley two coaches to the right. Apparently Harryls now doing art work for the Marine Corps. As I made my way in Harryis direction, whom should I see but Army Capt'. Dorney Wilber and Commander john Phillips accom- panied by his Wave secretary, Teresa Altimari! Conductor Stanton punched my ticket, and I settled down for a quiet ride with my new book, Behind the Magnetic Doors,', by Norma jean Luce. Wonder if she ever fulfilled her ambition to drive buses? I haven't lost that quality of curiosity I always have carried in my hat band, so you know I didn't read very long because I would be missing all that beautiful scenery when we passed some of those billboards. Did you know that Dick Van Deusen is way ahead of Frank Sinatra? Percy Seaburgh is Middle Atlantic District manager of G.L.F.? George Cook's band has replaced Harry james at Atlantic City this season? jean Kleinhans is Eileen Tinklels manager? Yes, sheis campaigning for congresswoman again. Down on the beach of the Hotel Paretta were five or six of our gang. Guess Dominic gives special vacat'ion rates to the ,46!ers. Nice guy, isn't he? Janet Carhart, Harry Erick- son, Margie Child and Vesta Hazelton were drinking Florida sunshine in the form of gorgeous tans as a reward for plodding through, four years of college. Pat Whyte, dietician and Alice Hotaling, an optometristas assistant, were in the group, too. Kelley Airlines is now doing a fine business. Margie Vincent told me she was one of forty airline hostesses employed by the company. At jo Seyler's beauty Salon Cin the Hotel Parettaj, I met Sally Feldman who is working with a large photograph studio. Sally was just full of information. That girl certainly Continued! on page fihy-one
