BOARD OF EDUCATION President, Henry Blenisg Secretary, Eugene Hummerg Treasurer, George Babcock, together with Dr. Henry F. Muller and E. W. Schoonmaker constitute the backbone of Ravena's educational system . . . monthly meetings . . . cigar smoke and quiet dignity hangs heavy over R. H. S .... business eiiiciently handled . . . much accomplished . . . money appropriated for athletics, prizes, music, internal improvements and public event awards . . . new this year, sponsoring Victory Corps movie project . . . faced with additional problem of converting heating system from oil to coal . . . funds and time given whole-heartedly. FACULTY On into the night . . . young Hazel Ackert tensely thinking up something original . . . keeps her lively fifth graders busy during the day . . .tall, slender, blond Miss Ackert one of few teachers remaining in R.H.S. next year. Ernest Ascherman . . . the thin man of the faculty . . . came early last spring . . . stepped into shoes of the now Staff Sergeant William Hopke . . . Ossining High School, Ernie's old Alma Mater, will welcome Ravena High's all-round coach next year. Did you see the speed ball go down the alley? . . . smiling Sarah Byxbee trying out her new hook in the Ravena Bowling Alleys . . . a beginner at this strenuous sport . . . nevertheless, teaches beginners their A-B-Cs. Lustful, youlng lungs of Junior Chorusers . . . under direction of Elizabeth Buffy Cole . . . sixth graders find their teacher to be quite musical, too . . . lent a- hand with teaching of seventh grade English this year. John Deisseroth . . . otherwise known as HJ. D. . . . for eight years has ruled Ravena High School through thick and thin . . . a sparkling sense of humor . . . a keen mind . . . an understanding nature . . . a grand principal. Edna Denny Dennis off to scold seventh graders for behaving so badly . . . have you worries? . . . can't sleep nights? . . . boy friend won't speak to you? . . . see De1nny', . . . she'll fix. Tall . . . dark-haired . . . attractive . . . Wilma Duggan sports powder blue roadster . . . teaches commercial subjects . . . advises freshmen . . . Uncle Sam will be proud to accept Miss Duggan as a perky WAVE. Don't become alarmed . . . those awful odors are not new types of gas bombs . . . they're from one Vera Fischer's chemistry laboratory . . . co-advises sophomore class . . . sponsors camera club . . . enjoys square dancing. Why don't you get your yearbook articles in? . . . Miss Eldna Gliottone does all the worrying when dead-line date comes up with no articles in . . . supervises stamp sales . . . co-advises sophomore class . . . acts as central treasurer of student funds . . . will handle commercial department alone next year. Oh-h-h Pearl flying nurse Hess . . . do you think I'l1 live? . . . she has pulled many an R. H. S. patient through trying mo-ments . . . one of most lively members on faculty . . . sponsors adult and student home nursing classes . . . will be with Uncle Sam next year. Marie Jabaut teaches home economics . . . her job supplemented with the super- vision of cadet teachers this year . . . quite a job making out menus for the noontime cafeteria . . . taught adult classes . . . a wonderful sense of humor.
