EL TIGRE 1958 Published by the Annual Staff Raton High School Raton, New Mexico DEDICATION RATON F.F.A. TEAM IS TOPS IN NATION New Mexico’s number one judging team, the Raton F.F.A. chapter, walked off with top honors at the 30th annual national convention of the F.F.A. in Kansas City, attended by 75.894 participants. Among the eight top gold medal winners in competition, the Raton team had the highest total points. Three team meml ers LeRoy Johnson, David Falletti and Floyd Lark each received individual gold emblems for livestock judging. It was the first time in history of the event that three members of three teams each received individual gold emblems. (The other two teams were California and Minnesota.) The Raton team had won the trip to Kansas City by being top livestock judging team in New Mexico. Alternate meml ers of the Raton team were: Leonard Pruett, John Dabovich, Dwayne Bacon, Walter Grove. John O'Byrne and Storm Gerhart. We, the EL TIGRE yearbook staff, dedicate EI. TIGRE. 1958, to this chapter and to Bosko Krivokapich, the chapter sponsor and team coach, who have brought such a great national honor to their school and their state. ADMINISTRATION FACULTY “It is my sincere hope that the experiences which this yearbook will recall to your minds as the years go by will have real significance for you. I am pleased to take this opportunity to wish a successful life for all of you students of Raton High School.” HAROLD LAVENDER Superintendent It seems to me that Raton High School is blessed with more than its share of fine teachers and fine students. If the saying is true that the destiny of our country lies in the hands of teachers, youth and education, then I have no fear — I am sure that the challenge will be met and our country will be saved.
