Dedication The old expression, Go the extra mile,” is time-worn, but the time will never come when this theory is worn in practice. Most people today, as always, believe, Do what you are paid to do,” and let it go at that. Not JAMES HEMPHILL! Better known to the students as Uncle Jim,” he goes far beyond the call of his duties. Surely he has gone the extra mile.” Always cheerful, always ready to help with anything from a missing book to a keyless lock, he is our counselor and our friend. And ... it is in the spirit of this friendship and in gratitude for it that we, the students of Raton High School, respectfully dedicate this, our 1954 annual, to UNCLE JIM” HEMPHILL.
