With the thought in mind that one picture can be worth many paragraphs, we have attempted to make this a pictorial review of 1952-1953. If, twenty years hence, we are able to bring hack to you one fleeting moment of pleasant reflection, our task will have been well repaid. GAYLE ARTHUR Assistant Editor PETER YOB. JR. Sponsor; Catallo, Cleaves, Talle 1952-1953 OFFICERS The members of the Mask and Wig Club are a group of students who are enthusiastic about both the fun and the work of producing and taking part in plays. The history of the club stretches back across the years to Raton High students of 1934 who wanted more stage experience than was being provided by class plays. Their purpose in organizing remains today’s reason for the existence of the Dramatic Club: “to study acting, to act, to learn to enjoy acting.” Membership is open to interested sophomores, juniors and seniors. This year’s membership stands at sixty. Officers are elected by the group each semester with only seniors eligible for the presidency. Regular, planned meetings are held the fourth Monday night of each school month. 'Dramatic Club Ladd. Johnson. Ward. Horner, Murphy, Gurulr, Guerra Owens. Rucker. Green, Talle, Pfeiffer. Medina CAST MEMBERS OF BEAUTY AND THE BEEF “Beauty and the Beef.” which presented a cast of twenty-five students, was the hilarious 1952-53 production of the club. Outstanding performances were given by several actors, while the stage crew clicked like a machine during complicated backstage maneuvers. The audience had fun too! The most important item on the year’s Dramatic Club program is the three-act play which is the group’s only money-raising activity. The proceeds from these plays have been spent wiring, lighting and equipping the high school stage. During the life of the club, hundreds of dollars earned by Mask and Wiggers have gone into making the stage a better place to work. Back row: Gloria Trujillo, President; Judy Howard. In 1946, Tigerettes was re-organized from G.A.A., to become a popular girls’ club in Raton High School. Its purpose is to create a love for Physical activity, to develop skills and techniques, and to encourage an interest in all physical education activities of the school. To be a member of Tigerettes, a girl must be in the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade and enrolled in a physical education class. Members work hard to earn points for various activities, an emblem for 250 points, and a letter for 500 points. The official costume of this club is a white sweater with the letter and Tigerette emblem on the pockets.
