SUPPLY DEPA R TMEN T Ready for Sea is the motto of the Supply Corps and onboard a ship that theme takes on a special meaning. The Supply Department onboard exists to serve the needs of the crew. No other single department can affect the morale of the crew as quickly or dramaticall as the I f ' ' ' y oss o a service. The services pro vided onboard are varied and are distributed among the following ratings: The Storekeepers fSK'sQ manage the ship 's budget, as well as the procurement, issue, custody, and storage of the repair parts that help keep every ship 's equipment in peak operating condition. The Mess Management Specialists fMS'sj provide ualit f d q y oo service, procure and stock subsistence items, maintain food service records, and prepare Hnancial returns. The Ships Servicemen fSH'sj provide those services without which most of us would be lost- laundry, barbershop, soda vending machines, and a retail store. The Disbursing Clerk CDIO pays the crew and provides for allotments for loved ones as well as for savings accounts and Ioan repayments.
