The girls' cross country team had great success in the competitions this season. I think the team did rather well, said team coach, Mr. Johnson. The team placed second in the B-North Con- ference as it did last season. Captains Sheri Straniero and Coleen Kenny led their team in all of their com- petitions with other team members, Lori DiRosa, Karen Smutek and Jeannine Mullahy. The team placed 7th in the Group Championships, 2nd in the Cen- tral Jersey Group III, 7th in the Shore Conference, and 5th in the Monmouth County Championships. I was very proud of them all season. stated Coach Johnson. This year's boys' track team had a finishing record of 2-5. Though last season wasn't one of its best, Coach Duggan believes this year will be better than last and is optomistic about the future. Some of last year's talented runners who will be reappearing this year are l-larry Co- langelo, Joe Liona, Matt Walker, and Kevin Maraza. Some new runners will be Kevin Kenney, Joe Roman. Coach Duggan also believes this year will be better because of some new participants in shotput, discus, and javelin throws, and states that even if the team doesn't do as well as he hopes, it will still be a pleasure to work with them.
