VARSITY BASKETBALL Kneeling: Bill Kilby; Ronnie Myers. Row One: Mr. Carter Ellis, Coach; Bobby Smoot; Lorenzo Fletcher; Lawrence Turner; Thomas Wigington; Harry Jordan; Clifford Frye; Steve Leade; Bill Settle. BOBBY SMOOT sinks a foul shot. They did it! The Varsity Pan- thers turned Rapp'ks. losing streak into a winning one. It was that fateful night at Strasburg High when it happened. The buzzer sounded and the Panthers had won. A new feeling seemed to fill all spectators, players, and cheerleaders. And Strasburg Rams began to scatter everywhere. After that, the winning streak continued. It continued through further wins over Strasburg, Central, Elkton, and William Monroe. These victories carried us to the district tournament. Much appreciation goes to the players for their hard work, fine efforts, and long awaited victories. Thanks, also, go to Mr. Carter Ellis, Coach, who gave of his time and knowledge to lead the Pan- thers down the country road to victory.
