VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Row One: Brenda Printz; Judy Alther, Captain; Cil Davis. Row-Two: Nancy Jones, Alternate; Jeanne St. Clair; Angela Dennis, Alternate. Row Three: Betty Lee, Co-Captain; Wendy Brown; Cassie Frye; Florence Turner. This year, the number of Varsity Cheerleaders at our school was increased by three. The number rose from seven to ten. There were eight regulars with two alternates. Being a cheerleader carries a lot of ups and downs. It means weekly practices, sore muscles and throats, “family squabbles , and long bus rides, often on a fourth of a seat. But, it's winks from the players, smiles from the crowd of spectators, all the little things, and most of all, nights like the Friday nite at Strasburg High when the Panthers broke their losing season that make it all so worth while. The Varsity Cheerleaders would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Mrs. Linda Yakim, their sponsor, for her time and help. “Those Panthers are some kinda good
