The Rappahannock Yefl Page 3 Job Lack is Possible by Matthew Packett It is seven-thirty in the morning as Ralph Raider is awakened by an internal alarm clock. “Time to get ready for school,” he thinks. “Wait a minute though, school’s over. Ah, summer vacation - no school for three calm months.” So Ralph settles down for a long sleep. First, however, his eyes gaze upon his bureau where a round scroll of sheepskin lies. “Hey, just a minute! That’s right, no school at all for me! I almost forgot. Hmmm, that means I have a lot of time on my hands. A whole heckuva lot! Better start looking for a job!” Again he settles back down in his bed and runs over the many positions that he would like to fill. Various jobs such as con¬ struction, heavy machine operation, welding, carpentry, and masonry all strike his fancy — especially the salaries that accompany them.
