Even if it meant swinging above a mas of white napkins the queens float had to be decorated Students from study hall and seniors with free periods dominated the work ing crew which stuffed the white Parade Causes l-lurried You working on the float to night guys? As cans of spray paint pep pered napkins and jeans floats began taking shape This year plaques were awarded by Stu dent Council to the most beau trful most original and most humorous floats topped and red bottomed megaphone with contrasting red and white Rs Ray Trankle chairman made the queens float both economical and beautiful with his selection of ma terials which one way or the other were donated -st X pu yew' 24 1 Recur- The queens float a project of Student Council was ineligible far competition for an award In the finished megaphone the roya five rode through the streets of the city with a smile and wave for everyone Although the weather was brisk each girl seemed only to gain more sparkle as the wind grew sharper Our class ring said the seniors who in their float displayed an oversized replica of the ring with l959 boldly lettered in gold on the front. This float represented the three years of work and play that the class had spent ' RCHS.

of Beauty and Magnitude Decorations consisted of a huge megaphone for the queen's entrance and an enormous football helmet, com- plete with stripes and ear guards, for her throne. Through it all there was a margin of suspense. Suspense reigned at the coronation when the heralders trumpeted and opened the door which had held the queen a secret. More suspense came along with heart- break when during the last minute of the game Sheridan raced to the goal and scored on the leading Cobblers to reverse the decision. All these and many more are now just memories, but memories that will linger and bring fond recollection in the years to come. 1 l I i :jg j Senior girls plus an R-Day poene equals a skit about football players Seen listening to last minute instructions are such celebrities as l-loby Cooper who rode out of the dark in the desert of the od lonesome star, Poker-Shark Tenney who mode a gala premier equipped with bubbe g,im iigar and xisor, and Bedridden Christensonu cornplete with ice bag, who in plaintive tone song Love Me Tender At halftime the crowd cheered the royalty as they circled the field in the float pulled by a white Impala This year for the first time, prize-winning floats were also drawn around the track for a last look at the work put in them. M 6, Everyone washed the dirt and crepe paper stains frorn their hands, changed from jeans and sweatshirts to suits and dressy dresses, and put on their best smiles over their tired minds so that they could help bring to o climax the R-Day activities by attending the annual semi-formal dance. This offered o last glance at the gym decorations while dancing to the music of Walter Lere. In the picture to the left the court and their escorts dance for a moment in front of the camera and seem to be enjoying a funny joke told by the photographer,
