She claims that he spends all his time with an imaginary six foot white rabbit named Harvey. 2. El wood Dowd has developed a crush on Ruth Kelley, the head nurse at Chumley's Rest. 3. Myrtle Mae Simmons stops the advances of Duane Wilson, a worker at Chumley’s Rest. 4. Dr. and Mrs. Chumley and Dr. Sanderson try to locate Elwood, who has escaped from Chumley's Rest. DECEMBER All German Program Is Successful People from Hutchison, Great Bend, Ness City, Wakeeney, Trego Center, Hays, and Ransom all came out to see the German students present a program; all in German. Some said it was the first German program they’d heard since leaving Germany. 1. THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS set the crowd roll- ing, when a human-sized mouse, lo Kenworthy, chased screaming Momma, Kathy Lutters, onto the bed. 2. As the Shepherds, Dirk Smith, Kent Schneider, and Tim Lutters, warm themsleves at the fire, they think of the Christ child the Angel told them about. 3. Director Delvin Strecker teaches the girls German Christ- mas carols. 4. A shining star leads kings and shepherds to the stall where baby Jesus was bom. 5. The finale was an exhib- ition of various German folk dances. 22
