1972 Football Homecoming Queen Marilyn Wyman Captain Dave Albers

Page 13 text:

The 1971 Football Homecoming Game with Lenora was played at 4:00 p.m. on October 29 because of the icy, cold weath- er. It had more than just the usual home- coming rivalry and spirit because it was also our last league game. By deafeating Lenora, we would become the undefeated Cheyenne Conference League Champions. Because of the ice and mud, it was im- possible to parade the floats and queen can- didates around the football field. The floats that didn't get stuck paraded behind the grandstand. The queen candidates were walked onto the field by their escorts. Marilyn Wyman was crowned queen by foot- ball captain Dave Albers, who shook her hand. Attendants were Kathy Weeks and Raymond Simon, Robynn Ridenour and Steve Potter. After the crowning ceremonies, the game got under way with a bang when we made a touchdown on an intercepted pass. The final score was 16 to 0 in our favor. A dance was held at the Legion Hall from ten to one o'clock with music provided byFyre. First place float, pictured at the top, was sponsored by Hi-Way 4 and City Cafe and had for its theme, Here We Are and Here We Stay. Tying for second place were the floats, Little Strokes Fell Great Oaks sponsored by Humburg's and John Scherzinger and To Be or Not To Be” sponsored by Shellenberger Insurance and The First State Bank. Fourth place, pic- tured at center, was entitled We Have Not Yet Begun to Fight and was sponsored by Ransom Motors and Geyers Sundries. The Smell of Success Is Never Too Sweet was sponsored by Ransom Co-op. Pictured at left is the Frye Band. 9
