THE OLD AND THE NEW Entering the familiar doorway, former students note immediately there is something new about high school this year. Walking into the old music room, they find it is now the math room. In class they are pleasantly surprised to find new programmed text-workbooks, a new way of teaching math, which enables each stu- dent to progress just as rapidly as he is capable of doing. To make room for urgently needed class space the vocal part of the music department moved to the gymnasium; the band remained in the band room. New uniforms helped band members feel a little prouder to belong to Ransom High School Band. The old math room became the new language room with both Spanish I and II offered this year. The new language laboratory provides individual listening stations, so that students may be given the individual instruction they need. The business department expanded its curricu- lum, offering economics, business law, business ma- chines and office practice. Several new business machines had been purchased to make possible the new courses. Shop offerings have been enlarged by offering open shop classes which permits more than one grade level of students to work together by the use of the project method of teaching. The vocational guidance counselor is on hand to assist students select suitable courses of study to guide them toward their life’s work. It is an old building, but there is a new spirit. Better methods of teaching and new equipment plus vocational guidance equal a better Ransom High School.
