Senior Histor In August of 1953 we set forth on a long journey that was to take us four years to complete. There were 31 members in our crew, namely: Ernie Ballard. Sue Boehme, Gale Christiansen, Joyce Clark, Don Davis, Mike Eighner, Cecil Elliott, Peg Fitz!-Ienry, Shirley Foster, Martha Gill, Rolland Goin, Judy Hofbauer, Ray Horton, Flora Howard, Tom Johnson, Doris Joyce, Berniece Kunce, Anna Lackey, Mary Jo McCormick, Ellen Morger, Joyce Mueller, Mike Newman, Pat Obenland, Danny Ryan. Larry Shuler, Velta Smith, Craig Snyder, Don Troxel, Irving Vaughan. Toward the end of the first month of our journey we had a crew meeting and elected Mike Eighner as our head man and Mary Jo McCormick as his assistant. Velta Smith was chosen to keep the minutes of our meetings and Ellen Morger kept track of the money that we accumulated. Mr. Schwartz and Mrs. Nixon were appointed as overseers. Then Don Gudeman, a transfer from Malta, Illinois, joined the crew in October. Soon we decided we had better send three people to Student Council The three we chose were Craig Snyder, Sue Boehme and Mike Eighner. As it is a custom the seniors decided that before we got too far on our journey we should be initiated. In the second semester of our journey, Dean Brown, a transfer from Monticello, Illinois, was added to the crew making our class a total of 33. We had pretty smooth going throughout the nine months. Then in May all four classes had a joint picnic at Twin Lakes, Paris, which climaxed our journey for three months. When we resumed in August of 1954 we were without the services of Don Davis and Cecil Elliott leaving us with 31 members again. As our officers terms had run out we thought that we had better hold an election. We had a crew meeting, electing Craig Snyder, President, and Ellen Morger as his assistant. Larry Shuler and Carolyn Nease were chosen to keep the minutes of our crew meetings and to keqa track of the money that we collected on our trip. Mr. Pence and Miss Osborn were the overseers of our crew that year. At another crew meeting a suggestion was made by one of the gang that we again send three members to Student Council. They were: Ellen Morger, Craig Snyder and Mike Eighner. After a few months of journeying we lost a couple of our crew members, Flora Howard and Don Troxel, Everything went smoothly on the journey through the end of May when we had another reunion. This time it was held at Shafer Lake. And again everyone took a three month vacation. All of us assembled for our third year, deciding to continue our journey. Again we lost another member of the crew, Joyce Mueller. This time we elected Irving Vaughan as our President: Tom Johnson kept the minutes of our crew meetings and Mary Jo McCormick kept track of the money. We sent Craig Snyder, Mary J c McCormick and Irving Vaughan to Student Council. Mr. Colteaux and Mrs. Walker were our over- seers for the gang this year. Again we lost two members, Ellen Morger and Doris Joyce. That year was to be a very busy one for us as we had to prepare for the Junior-Senior Prom in the spring. The Prom held May 9, 1956 in the Urbana-Lincoln Hotel, it was a fine affair. Soon after the prom, we again had our reunion at Shafer Lake, followed by another three month's vacation. We assembled in August of 1956 for a very important year as it is supposed to be our last. We lost two more members, Peg FitzHenry and Gale Christiansen, leaving us with a total of 23 members for the last lap of our journey. We elected Arch Goin to head our classy Velta Smith was chosen to assist him and Mary Jo McCormick kept track of the minutes. DonGudeman was to keep track of the money for the fourth year. Velta Smith, Craig Snyder and ArchGoin were elected from the gang to represent our class in Student Cormcil. Mr. Staley was our overseer this year. Publishing the Broadcaster once every six weeks and preparing the year book plus everything that goes with it wewere to makethis our busiest year. Then there was the senior play, skip-day, class night, baccalaureate, and graduation to which we looked forward. Again, in the spring we'll meet with the rest of the classes for our annual reunion.
