Haye F ster Ho Fxrst Ten To open the season the Rangers chalked up a v1ctory over Crescent C1ty 36 to 25 on November 4 Hankln s next game at Armstrong was a close game but the Rangers lost 33 to 30 E1ght days later the team toppled Hennlng 41 to 27 On November 22 Rankln won 1ts th1rd game of the season at Donovan, maklng a 3 won 1 loss record outstand1ng game of the year at ROSSV1lle on December 2 Play1ng before a packed house the Rangers won by only one po1nt 1n a double overt1me At the end of the f1rst half the Rangers held a three po1nt lead 14 to ll In the next quarter Hank1n ra1sed the score 11 po1nts end1ng the th1rd quarter 25 to 16 Rank1n after hav1ng a good lead slowed up ln the fourth quarter and wlth only a short t1me left to play Chrls t1ansen from ROSSV1lle made two free throws and t1ed the game 28 all ROSSV1ll6 Jumped to a three po1ntlead 1nthe fzrst overt1me but Bushue s free throw and Cornellus s f1eld goal 1n the last 16 seconds t1ed the game aga1n In the second overt1me Rossvllle s Beckley made a free throw and Rank1n s Cl1ft0H came back w1th a f1eld goal to w1n the game 33 to Among other good games of the year were the Loda game w6ll1HgCOH game and Stockland game A speclal hlghllght of the year was the n1ght Rank1n won the Loda Inv1tat1onal Freshman Sophomore Tourney on March 7 by defeatlng Melv1n S1bley 43 to 33 Inthe flrst game of the tourney Bank1n played Loda and eas1ly won 50 to 31 In the champ1onsh1p game the followlng even1ng the score was t1ed 16 to 16 at the half But 1n the th1rd quarter the baskets poured 1D for the Rangers and the 'Champs left Melv1n S1bley tra1l1ng by ten p01HtS 43 to 33 R T H S 1S very proud of the n1ce trophy awarded the team Cheerleaders for the tourney were Peggy Cox and Joan Cleary freshmen and Joan Holqulst and Ald1ne Bruens both shophomores. The reserves also posted agood season's record of 11 won and 7 lost. The llneup was not lntact throughout the season due to changes on the vars1ty squad.
