ONT ROW D Swanson Behrens B Bus ue Smx Sme urs C Swanson redrxckson ubbell reec xt e oan lagka BACK W Swanson Custer clntyre orn, oser Boehme Terre aylor e son etchum I s orn ar on Bushue Goins Thompson 0 enlnnd Snyder c H0fb8U8f STANDING R laska Hubbell BAND After having presented s1veral summer concerts, the band was 1D full swing when school resumed in September At that time five new comers were welcomed making a total enrollment of thirty two As t1me elapsed however, membership increased as promotions fromthe beginners band were made A very successful spring concert on May 19 was an event of major importance in the school calendar A variety of numbers were present ed including several solos, and duets The group also made special preparations for a public performance on Memorial Day and for coming concerts of the summer Four officers headed the organization They were Donna Jo Swan son, president Nancy Behrens, vice president Susanna Maskal secre tary treasurer and Belva Bushue, reporter M W F Bunnell band director, deserves much credit for this fine musical organization SPEECH Speech contestants and their entries his year were Pat Taylor, Pat Chris 1ansen, and RussellOlson, humorous read ng Aldine Bruens, serious reading, Ber nita McCarty verse reading and D1Ck fighner, oration. In the District Speech Contest on 'ehruary 23, Bernita McCarty won first ilace in verse reading. On March ll, she ,dvanced to the Sectional Contest,and, here in a field of nine, placed second in llass B schools. Mrs. Lillian Porter was director of speech.
