The RHS Band proudly sported a Division I rating when compared to the others in Class 6-A . The second most important event for the band is Concert Season. Generally in late spring, the bands in Class 6-A are involved in concert work. At printing, the results of the contest were not available: however, with the hard work done by all, the enthusiasm of the members, and the Band Officers shown at right, we are sure the Band fared well. The Officers areg seated left, Kirby Shipp, Presidentg Cathy Hughes, Secretary: standing, Pansy Peterson, Reporter: and Roy Kendrick, Vice- President. Cheerleaders Rankin High School's sports program was led by the four dedicated cheerleaders, shown here. They were chosen by a Student Body vote in late spring of last year. Throughout the year, these girls have led the Red Devils to victory in track, basketball, golf, tennis, and football. They are clockwise: at left: Phyllis Sobotik, Sarah Barrett, Teresa Koen, Jamie Tiemann. These four have done an excellent job in urging the Devils on to victory. ,J ,. : . If 3, :.-,- -WM nw. , -. First, we'll see if we can find the Class President. Why there he is now. KIRBY SHIPP, well-known as Bob, in the National Finals Rodeo wearing a black Stetson with a 10-inch brimg the only baldheaded goat roper there. Is Bob known for his Guinness Book of World Records for spitting? Or his goat roping ability? Or for filling in for Mr. Clean? Hey , isn't that MELISSA CAFFEY? She's modeling her own line of pool side clothing. Among her spectators are Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Copeland, Mr. and Mrs. David Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Daymond Lindsey, and Mr. and Mrs. David Turner, Oh! We mustn't forget Mr. and Mrs. Doug Brazil. And there's a picture of DAVID TURNER, alias Chick, starring in the Japanese Western Have Chopstick Will Travel. He is also a successful businessman, having opened the first taco stand in Tokyo. He is also known as The Laundromat King. Congratulations, Hop- Sing! But when are you going to graduate? And looking further into our crystal ball, we see none other than DAVID HARPER sitting in his rattly boxcar on the slab . Looking intensely in the mirror, he very carefully removes one straggly hair from his well-kept, slightly greying, Clark Gable sideburns. Still cursing the Texas girls, yet still secretly trying to find his very own Scarlet. As one more Texas filly passes by but fails even to show a hint of interest , he straightens his shoulders, assume a devil-may-care look and says in his best Colorado accent: Frankly Scarlet, I don't give a darn! ! ! , What's that? BRYAN HENRY still pumping gas? By the way Bryan, how are Ethel and the kids? Continuing her singing career, we can see a farily clear picture of EVELYN WHITNEY at the Rev. Alan Speed's wedding singing, It Could've Been me. NOW, LET'S TAKE A LOOK IN ON THE ATHLETES: Why there's PENNY BRADEN playing in Dinah Shore's Colgate Winners Circle Golf Tour- nament. Fussing every step of the way because she found out she had to play with Iudy Ran- kin. And there's no other than GARY MCSPADDEN playing in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. He's the tallest C7'8 J , one on the team. And, unfortunately, the skinniest, weighing in at a mere 165 pounds. Don't sweat it, Grum. As long as you can out-jump labar, you'll be doing O. K. By the way, how's that golf game of yours? Clubs still too short? Now we see DONNIE COLE, water boy for the Dallas Cowboys, tackling Teresa Plagens, the head cheerleader on the sidelines. LOOK OUT , DONNIE! Coach Parker might see you and kick you off the team . OH NO! ! There's GARY MacV RNADORE, one of the most famous men in the United States, playing in the U. S . Open , on hole number 12 with his Johnny Miller slacks down to his knees picking bees out of his un erwear. Is he famous for his golf game? His good looks? Or the bee hives in his britches? And look! There is SARAH BARRETT playing the lead role in The Millionaires Daugh- ter, still single and spending most of her sport-time at her scuba diving lessons. Hey look! There's the gals from the National TTC. They are planning the 20th anniver- sary of the organization. PAM is President and LIZ holds the office of Vice-President. Good luck, girls! We hope your organization experiences tremendous growth. At this meeting we see PATTY MCFADDEN. What's that she is doing? Oh! Patty has been elected the program instructor for the National TTC meeting. Well, I guess she knows what she is talking about. Good luck with the girls. Class of 1976 Prophecies And now with two kids of his own, we see TOMMY JOHNSON approaching his beloved Father saying, Daddy, give me some money. Now we see GEI-IIG FUEGE, driver education instructor at Rankin High, showing his stu- dents the difference between a dirt road and a cattle guard. After all, he says, I learned the hard way. Of course in my condition, it was hard to tell the difference! And what's that object flying over Rankin? Is it a bird? A plane? No, it's JIMMY MARTI- NEZ flying high with his ears out wide. As we look in our crystal ball again, we see none other than DAYMOND LINDSEY, driving his brand new Cadillac around the big drag of Rankin, trying to decide which one it will be tonight: lraan, Fort Stockton, San Angelo or Odessa. Why if it isn't JOHNNY ABALOS, still gripping about Mr. Nelson discriminating against him. That is all right, Johnny! You aren't the only one with that kind of problem. We had to get a haircut too. And now we see CARL RICHARDSON, still playing knock knock on Tammy's Chinette plates. Watch out Carl, they might not be as firm as they look. And look, it is PANSY PETERSON, reminiscing about her High School drama, while read- ing reviews of her own TV series, wondering if she will ever be a SIEII. And now we see JERALD HEAD , coming home after a hard days work ' t the office crying. When his loving and faithful wife , D'Ann, tries to comfort him and 1-.1ds out what is wrong. He sobs, Today at work my poor calculator blew up! And now we see OWEN YOCHAM patiently waiting for the shaft from Liz - Chang in there Yogi! . Maybe Liz and her millionaire husband could use you as the butler. Now there is RUSTY HOLUB, parked in front of Happy Valley still trying to get up enought courage to go in. It looks like by now, E. J. , that you would have had enough experience not to be scared. And now we see rapid RICKY LEE. We find him in a sticky situation: he is in prison! Assault with two deadly weapons: his famous left hook and his tennis racket, which he used on anyone who beat him in tennis. Now we see ROSEMARY KELLEY , finally married to Doug, but Doug is still in the Air Force away from home. But can you blame him? And now we see SUZANNA LOVE getting up in the morning, and after trying to put her face on, looking in the closet wonderinglwhat Mr. Cormier would like for her to wear today. And look! There is Professor RICK HURST, head of the Pharmaucautical Department of Texas ASLM University, cheering the Aggies on as they beat Tech, 90 to 0 , in the Southwest Conference Championship Football Game. While his life-long friend, Professor HUGH JACKSON, head of the Tech Accounting Department swears never to speak to him again. I can't believe it! Why it is TERESA JOHNSON, who has finally managed to oust the pres- ent Speech Teacher and will take over the job. She was unanimously elected by the Board over such outstanding applicant as: LIZ SMITH Cnow known as Mammy Yochamj, SUZANNA LOVE Cpresently a real Wheeler dealerj, and SARAH BARRETT. CStill tryingb. Maybe now with a good salary, she can intice little David to come to her house . And there is DAVID WEAVER still stumbling around the school dances in his McCloud Suit, doing push-ups and yelling at the band: Play some Red-Neck Music. We see MARK HUGHES in the hospital with a broken nose, facial lacerations, and a con- cussion. Should't have made that quick stop, Gary Mac! And now we see, RENE TAYLOR still sitting in the corner, trying to decide what she is going to do with her life. Senior ee Splash Dag After many hours of discussion and consideration of alternatives, the Senior Class decided to make Lake Nasworthy in San Angelo the site of this year's Senior Trip. lt was rumored that all would make the trip and return the same colorg however, this was not the case. Special thanks to those sponsors and families that went along for the fun. We know it probably did not measure up to the original Splash Day, but it will not be forgotten for many years. As you can tell from this page, the top photo shows some work and the bottom photo shows what is actually happening. The staff members included: Rick Hurst, Hugh Jackson, Suzanna Love, Rosemarie Kelley, and assisted by apprentices Marlene Mobley and Beverly Hoelscher. The Staff also wishes to thank the photography staff composed of Liz Smith and Owen Yocham or vice-versa . This staff is to praise for achievement and criticize for failure. We hope the third edition of this annual under the direction of Mr. Paul Cormier, is better than either of the previous editions.
