U' $ • r THE TATTLER I DEDICATION We, the class of 1988, dedicate our TATTLER to Mr. Brent Quimby. For five years you've been our home room advisor, our father, our zoo keeper, and our referee. Thanks for supporting our ideas and standing behind us 100%. You've helped us to realize our potential as a class and have helped pull us through many trying experiences. From this, we have grown. After five years, we finally learned the true meaning of team work, and, Mr. Quimby, you were part of that team. Mr. Quimby has counseled us through our high school years and even though we never showed much appreciation, we d like to acknowledge his importance to us throughout our high school years by dedicating our yearbook to him. 2 Vicki Ann Bean Beano I am the master of my fate and the captain of my soul. There's no friends to ease her pain. I've known her all my life. I always know how she feels. When she's happy or sad. That she cries When no one's around. That she does this To ease the pain of life. I know all this. Though we've never spoken. As I turn back. A tear rolls down her cheek. I want to wrap my arms around her. And tell her it's okay. The Rangcley Lakers boys basketball team enjoyed a superb season during the 1987-88 year. After coming off a very successful 12 and 6 season the previous year, we continued to climb the ladder to join the elite teams in Class D with an overall record of 16 and 5. With this team, I must put aside individual statistics and deal with team accomplishments. It was a year in which all of our success was due to a total team effort. We had very big victories over the much larger schools of Buckficld and Valley High of Bingham, which highlighted our regular season schedule. The win over Bingham, being the first over that school in fourteen years, two very important wins over Temple Academy, and much publicized team from Vinalhaven brought our team to the Western Maine Championship Game for the first time since 1957. Despite a very cold shooting night we gave our all in an effort to reach the State Title Game, but fell short to Buck- field by the score of 57 to 53. I am very proud of the group of young men that I’ve been associated with during my three seasons at Rangelcy. They've worked very hard and have shown great desire and pride in building the boys program back into a winning tra- dition. We have to say goodbye to three players who played major roles on the team. Senior Jim Jannace, playing for the first time, played an important role coming off the bench for us. Jim was a great team” member and I thoroughly enjoyed coaching him. Senior guards Stacy Knight and Chris Hughes finished fantastic careers here at Rangeley Lakes Regional School. I've watched them develop since being Sophmores and I can't say enough about them as athletes or as young men. They have alot to be proud of. Next year promises to be another fine season as we will return three very important starters, in leading scorer Erin Washington. Center Darren Annis, and Forward Daxter Eustis. 6th man Jamie Eastlack will be counted on as the leader and Freshman Forward Shane Stewart will be looked upon as a big contribution. Looking to fill even more important playing time roles with be guards Greg Allen, Nate Bean, and Odie Bachelder, and forwards Eddie Stinson and Eugene White. Brooks (Cape.) The girls varsity basketball team had a good season this year. Despite a series of unfortunate incidents the girls put forth a commendable effort and determined, edged their way into the Western Maine Tournaments. Seniors Lisa Kerr and Shannon Webber are both four-year players and will be missed next year. Lisa takes with her an outstanding 950 points and a solid rebounding record. Shannon leaves RI.RS with her talent in defensive and shooting skills. Senior Captain Lisa Brooks started the season off well and retained her position as captain after an unfortunate injury ended her basketball career. As well, we saw a new senior face this year. Molly Margason who contributed much to the team's spirit and character. Varsity Cheerleaders BOTTOM LEFT TO RIGHT: A. Mullen. T. Hoffman. T. Harrill. MIDDLE: S. Stinson. B. Haley. TOP: M. Hill.
