Class of 84 Keep Going There’s no skill in easy sailing When the skies are clear and blue. There’s no joy in merely doing Things that anyone can do. But there is great satisfaction. That is mighty sweet to take When you reach a destination That they said you couldn’t make! Congratulations From: THE ALPINE SHOP 2 Dedication We, the Class of 1984, wish to dedicate this year’s yearbook to someone who has put up with us in the past four years. He has been a close friend, teacher, and class advisor. He has helped us through many problems and has straightened us out when we didn’t want to listen. The Class of 1984 thanks Mr. Ralph Brewer very deeply in helping us through our high school years. For that great feat we dedicate this year’s yearbook to you. Thank you Mr. B! Collins, E. Bates, L. Searles, M. Bubier. The girls had their best season ever this year. Their record was 20 wins and 1 loss. Their achievements were many: We beat Alexander Galt school from Quebec, in our own Christmas Tournament to win the consolation trophy. We had been trying to beat them for three years. We beat Vinalhaven, the team we lost to in last year’s Western Maine finals, in the first game of the Western Maine Tournament 55-50. We then beat Buckfield, the only team to beat us during the regular season, for the Western Maine Championship 40-30. Only the third Western Maine Championship ever in Rangeley’s history and the first ever for the girls. We then beat the Eastern Maine Champ Greenville, for the State Title 45-43. This is the first State Ti- tle in boys or girls basketball ever for Rangeley. All the hard work the girls put into this season paid off. We’ll lose 3 seniors, Cathy Jannace who gave us steady play all season long, Kelley White, a 4 year player who developed an excellent jump shot and was quick on defense, and Heidi Deery, who scored a record 511 points this season for a 24.3 average, not only did she score but led us in almost every department. The team would like to thank all those people who helped make this year a year to remember in the history of our sports. 34 Best of Luck From: THE GLASS SNEAKER TOURNIES Us Them Vinalhavcn 55 50 Buckficld 40 30 STATES Greenville 45 43 Opponent Us Them Valley 45 43 GPCS 48 31 Oak-Grove 50 32 Buckfield 43 30 GPCS 52 23 Waynfletc 46 17 Waynflete 68 36 Oak-Grove 74 34 Jackman 46 45 Jackman 52 32 NYA 49 28 North Haven 62 40 North Haven 57 40 Isleboro 56 26 Isleboro 73 24 Buckfield 32 41 Valley 53 40 NYA 51 25 Congratulations From: ROGER PAGE SKI SHOP 35 Uarsity Boys Basketball Back Row: Mr. Ellis, R. The Boy’s Varsity had a disappointing season, recordwise, but still some positive items came out. Pro- gress was made in area of skills, both offensive and defensive throughout the season. The boys worked hard all season and realized some of their potential. This year was a rebuilding one. With only two seniors leaving and at least nine returning lettermen next year, there is a good chance to improve upon the record. The captains this year were Jerry Galusha and Matthew Hughes. They did a fine job providing leader- ship and stability to a young team. Also doing an excellent job was the manager, Delcy Frost, of which the team thanks her. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team members for their effort this year and I hope for a better year next season. 36 Best of Luck From: RIDDLE’S LIGGETT REXALL PHARMACY fiction Shots Compliments of: TAYLOR’S I.G.A. 37 6olf Club M.
