Cherished are my thoughts of you with Heartfelt sorrow and sympathy. Amid the tears and lingering pain Rises your monument, a memory Dedicated to REE. Somewhere in the future Time will heal my wounds. Opened that day in April. When 1 remember beautiful moments with you. Echoes of your drum beats stir Lively fires of a winner, so, Listen to this song of love. Even in death you are a winner, for Under the wing of an angel, you set Standards of sportsmanship for all who pass hence To equal. Life has limits but In place of the circles, diamonds, and Squares of earthly bounds, death offers unlimited potential. by R. S. Sargents 35 QirL BJLAatt The Girls' Basketball Team had the best year they have ever had since they started having a Girls’ State Tournament. We finished the season with a 12-4 record this year which is quite an improve- ment over last year’s record of 3-15. We went into the Christmas break with a 3-2 record. During the break we finished second in our own Christmas Tournament and Branwen Bruce made the all-tourney team for the second year in a row. Our first two games after the break were with Waynflete and we split with them, winning the first game and losing the second. After this we did not have another loss until the finals of the Western Maine Basketball Tournament. That gave us a winning streak of 8 games. Our last game of the regular season was against Buckfield (a team Rangcley had previously never beaten) and we won it by a score of 38-32 before our very enthusiastic home fans. Our first Western Maine Tournament Game was against Buckfield and we beat them again, this time by the close score of 37-36. This put us in the Western Maine Final against Vinalhaven who went into the Tournament rated number 1. We gave them a good game, which we were leading at one point by a 37-30 score, before losing 55-42. We did win the Best Sportsmanship Award, of which we are very proud, in the Western Maine Tournament. We will be returning everyone except our two seniors: Carol Quimby, who has been a good defen- sive player during her career, and Branwen Bruce, who has led us in just about every category during her four years as a starter at Rangeley. We would like to thank the many fans and organizations who have helped us this successful season. 36 This page sponsored by: S. C. Noyces Standing: Kelley White. The 1982-83 Boys varsity Basketball team had high aspirations, but they weren’t realized. The team got along well together and had good sportsmanship, but even so they only ended up with 4 wins and 10 losses. Some highlights of the season were two exciting wins over N.
