Sdztorzals We re sure everyone rs curious as to what happened to the TATTLER last year In the past few years we have gone into debt on the TATTLER Under present con druons it seems to be impossible to break even on the yearbook unless we sold at an exorbitant price Therefore when rn the fall we were confronted by a proposition of the Tri State Pnnters who promised us that we could make a profxt on the yearbook we hurriedly availed ourselves of the opportunity Under their supervision in October we took in enough money for ads to pay the cost of the book That meant that all the money received from the sale of the book was profit This money nearly cleared up our debt but unfortunately the books didn t ar r1ve until the first of August and were of poor quality and filled with typographical errors The only good thing that came from this enterprise was a determination to regain our former standard and to improve it so much that perhaps everyone would forget the fiasco of the 1955 edition This year s book has been put together systematically every conceivable sort of materials for its preparation bemg provided by our pubhshers this year a company that absolutely guarantees satisfaction and dehvery of the books in May We hope that everyone can see a decided improvement this year By popular request we have rein far as possible we have improved the appearance of the ad pages to make them more interesting Already plans are being made for next year s book which will be an extra special edition in honor of the 50th graduating class of R H S Suggestions on ways to improve future editions are always welcome because everyone wants to have a truly fine book worthy of the title THE TATTLER E I Hinkley 56 In years to come much larger classes than now will be attending Rangeley High School More classroom space will be needed Where and how can this be done? I offer a solutron A new gymnasium when this new gym has been built the old one can be converted into at least two small classrooms or one large one Other towns of the county have large gyms and consequently better basketball teams A good team that wins the majority of its games draws a large crowd lf you have the seating capacity to control tlus crowd you can easily make a large profit and practr cally support the actrvmes of the school A gym of tlus sort will open opportunities for special physrcal educatxon classes It will draw more students to Rangeley High School and more families to Rangeley It will offer a place for town meetings and gatherings of large associations in the summer I am sure such a gymnasium will more than pay for itself I know that rt will be a great contribution to the town and its people John Plulbrrck 57 Sponsored by SAM-O SET CAMPS . . .
