Bob Eustis. SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY The Sophomores began their second year at Rangeley High with 21 members. They elected the following officers for the year: president. Anna Belle Ellisg secretary, Lorraine lN'est: treasurer. Mary Brackett. On the 15th of September we got after the Freshmen and gave them a rough time for their Freshman Initiation. Soon after. we started work on our 2nd An- nual Cabaret, which we held November 'lrd at the R.H.S. Gym. YVe were successful in that and so our hopes rose and we started plans for another dancefthe Shamrock Ball, remember? That was held M3I'Cll I7 at the Lodge Hall with Brackleyls Orchestra supplying the music. lVe are thinking about another dance and some food sales. l'Ve want to thank all those who have made our year so successful. EIGIITH GRADE HISTORY The eighth grade has had a successful year under the guidance of our teachers. Miss Reeves. Miss Edwards. Miss Stevens, Mr. Mar- tin. and Mr. Houston. The class ofjficers at the beginning ol' the year were james Mel,afTerty, president: lliekie Wlentzell, vice-president: .Io- sephine Mills. seeretary: Marshall Swain. trea- surer. During the year these oflficers were re- plaeed so that now we have Sandra Holman. president: .Iosephine Mills. viee-president: james York, secretary: Betty Haley, treasurer. Gary Priest was voted by the class to be on the Stu' dent Couneil. ln Home Economics we have made dresses. skirts. and blouses: in Industrial Arts the outstanding projeet has been a hot dog master, Mcmst of the girls belong to the Glee Club where we sing under the direction of Miss Reeves. The boys do wood working in the Hob- by Club. We were all very proud of Josephine Nlills and Rose lielisle when they won a cup at the Farmington Musie Festival. The girls have had Physical Education under the instruction of Miss Edwards. who is now teaching us to danee. The boys have done a good job this year in basketball. In the tournament between the fifth, sixth. seventh. and eighth grades. the eighth grade beat the sixth grade quite badly. The fifth gave the seventh quite a scare before they finally bowed. ln the Consolation between the fifth and sixth the latter won easily. The final between the seventh and eighth was a thriller. The eighth led at the half 6-5 with the seventh leading at the end of the third quarter l5-9. Then Gary Priest came in to try to help out his team and the eighth won by the score of I9-17, As the .Iunior High will not have baseball, some of the boys are going to practice with the High School. NVQ' had five cheer leaders this year- -.Iosephine Mills. Sandra Holman, Nancy Sehildburg. Mickey Steward. and Lurene Ross.
