I'm from Nakorn Pathom, Thailand. Nakorn Pathom is the first city of Buddhism and the first city of Thailand. It's 30 miles west of Bangkok which is the capital in central Thailand. My country is located among several countries in Southeast Asia, and it's on the opposite side of our world from the United States of America. The climate is pretty nice for me or it may be nice for you too. The tem- perature is between S5 degrees to 98 degrees F, so I feel very cold when the temperature in the winter in Wisconsin is 20 degrees F below zero. In my country, there are about 30 million Thai population in 1970 and its area is 198,000 square miles. I have already finished my Teacher Training School in Nakorn Pathom, and I was in the College of Education in Bangkok. At this school, Mrs. Wipanee Srisukda taught me English and the American Peace Corps en- couraged me to come to the U.S.A. That used to be my great dream. These Pe ace Corps did excellent deal and they enjoyed living in Thai- land. I am the oldest son of my parents, and I have five sisters, and five brothers. We have a chicken farm and we plant rice, coconut, margo, banana, jackfruit and tobacco. I miss my family in Thailand when I came to Adell, but I feel so happy as I live with them when I came to live with my wonderful Dad and Mom, Merton, je an Steuerwald, my sisters and brother, Monica, Sonja, Nadine, and Mark. All the people here, the teachers and the students of Random Lake High School have been kind and very friendly to me. I always remember this year and I will be so happy and very excited if I see you in Thailand. I really wel- come you to my home and I may come to study more in U.S.A. and see you again. Good-by and Good-Luck. Thanks so much. . . Sanit Chunduang. 56 My name is Neddy Pardo Figueroa or Jeda. I am 17 years old. I finished my school in 1969. I come from Lima, Peru. Peru has three regions: Coast, Mountains and jungle, I live in the capitol of Peru, Lima. I live with my parents and sisters. My father has an appliance store and my mother is a housewife. I have two sisters one of 21 years, she is married and works for the American Embassy in my Country, and another sister of 15 years old. Now in my country is summer, but I prefer to stay here. In my country the winter is not so cold. I studied in a private school, Saint Mary Eufrasia and I studied English for only 8 months. W'hen I return to Peru, I will study in a college to be a Sociologist and Psychologist and I think to return to Wisconsin to obtain my master's. I am very happy to live with the McKen.na's, because they are a wonder- ful family and they help me all the time that I need help, especially Debbie. I love my sister very much, because she has the same character like me. I am also happy in the school with the teachers and the students and I think Mr. Hanson is a good principal and all of them are good friends. I will never forget the six wonderful months in the United States, and never forget Wisconsin. But I can't say good -by, I say I hope to see you again and thank you for all. 57 CLADYS CASTRO Gladys Castro, who was better known to most of us as Leta, was one of our frlendly fore1gn exchange students from L1ma, Peru Durlng her stay here she hved Wlth the Kenneth McKenna famlly Homeszck, Leta left o school just before Chrlstmas, 1969 to return to her home 1n South Amer1ca Leta was born on May 31 1951 Her father owns a store and her mother 1S a housew1fe Wh1le she attended Random Lake I-hgh School we learned that Leta enjoyed fnendly people, eatmg P1ZZ8, l1sten1ng to mus1c and readlng poems Leta attended an all g1rl Cathohc I-hgh School so Random Lake I-hgh School must have been qulte a change for her Here, she not1ced that the teachers were 11ke real fr1ends to the students What d1d Leta l1ke most about WISCODSID?
