They decided to take a look around the country and see if they could spot the class of 1951. After flashing around a bit, their focus finally lighted on the basketball court in Houtchingoff, Idaho, where the redheaded girls' basketball team was playing the Blonde Bombers from Tallahassee, and who should they see playing as the redheaded star center but Arlis Bergsten. Then after seeing an exciting game, the radar system picked up a spot in Wyoming where they saw David Brenner, and David Jr. herding, yes you guessed it, the NBrenner-Bob-Tailed-Sheep.N Next they picked up Jim Brooks training his six boys for the Brooks six-man football team. It is reported they were practicing for the Grapefruit Bowl next winter. Mrs. James Howe formerly Clara DeLong, is happily married and has twin sons, Charley and Harley. In Salina they picked up Bill Estabrook working full time in his new HYou sing it and we ring itn telephone system. And now they flash across to foreign lands where they pick up BobHagenmaier who is a spot reporter for the XYZ Radio Station in Korea. His wife, a former Clay Center resident, is on her way to meet him. And suddenly they thought their radar set was going to explode as they brought it back to the United States and it flashed to a jazzy spot in Swingland, Tennessee, where they saw Harold Hargrave and his NHappy Hoodlum Bandn swing out on his favorite hit of that day, Nl Love'em and Leave'em.n Then they spotted the Casement Ranch near Manhattan, Kansas, where they found Mrs. Dale Spratt, formerly Pat Lilley, just ready to drive the children to school in the new Rolls-Royce Convertible. Then they quickly flashed back to Randolph where they saw that Joyce Malmstrom's dream had come true, and she waaoperating her new Country Club Beauty Shop with the slogan uDon't get a Rayve, come here for your Wave.H Then they came directly to Randolph where it picked up the sound of hammer and tacks, where Mrs. Bob Carlson, formerly Phyllis-Pfaff, is specializing in the art of toe manicuring. And last but not least, the radar system flashes to the Spotless Springer Ranches, where Mrs. Eldon Springer, formerly Alyce Wohler, was just getting ready to go to town and trade at the Loeckle-Lock'em-Up-Locker.N Feeling satisfied that the class of 1951 had made much progressinthe world, they turned off the radar system and took up their books, hoping to make as much progress when they graduate. iii-N b, Y: V f E' 0 I5 A ECU I :J J 'sas if X-EFL? Ulm fkkfm We were the green freshmen at R.R.H.8. the fall of '47. we did the expected freshmen stunts--we were late to classes, and did not know much about high school atmosphere. Our initiation was followed by an all school party given in our honor. After this we were a part of R.R.H.S. and grew to love it. Our freshman and sophomore years flew by quickly. We attend- ed all school part1es,had our own class parties, served banquets, took part in extra-curricular activities, and got into all the mischief we could. Before we knew it we were juniors. We received our class rings--naturally we think they are tops. We had our chance to display our talents when we presented our junior play 'Three 01d llald Aunts' under the direction of Daphne Capps. This proved to be a big success. Much time was spent in planning and working to carry out the theme of 'The Gay '9O's' at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Our senior year proved to be even busier. Responsibilities fell on us--deadlines had to be met on the Rambler, we were the presidents of organizations and had to set good examples for the underclassmen. On the morning of April 26, the underclassmen of R.R.H.B. came to school to find the desks of the seniors vacant. They looked around and finally discovered that this was the day which started the Senior Sneak!!! we wish to thank the juniors for the wonderful Junior-Senior Banquet given at the Wareham Hotel. we will never forget it. Our Senior play, 'Miss Jimmy , under the direction of Margaret Eddy, was presented on April 24. This play was also a great success for the senior class. On Hay 4, the seniors were guests at the alumni banquet. The month of Hay brought us close to graduation. Final plans were completed for Baccalaureatte Hay l3,and Com encement Hay 18. In Y-Teen four girls were on the cabinet. In E. F. A. three Juniors held offices. WRiddle Me Riches, a three act comedy, was given on December l. During the months of December and January we conducted a paper drive to increase our financial status. The class contributed ve me , iors' sweet voices were a part of the Christmas program and the variety program. Forty per cent of the juniors were on the honor roll. At the beginning of the school year thirteen of these sopho- mores welcomed Roger Area, transferred from Olsburg, to the ranks of the sopho- more class. The sophomore class is well represented in athletics. Five boys partici- pated in football, seven boys and six girls in basketball. Five sophomore girls contributed to the band this year. A class party was given the 16th of October. The sophomore class enjoyed a party given by Mrs. Eddy and Mr. Frickey, our class sponsors, the 18th of Decem- er. It is safe to say that the sophomore class of '53 will rise to even greater heights of achievement than they have hitherto. May they look and remember with pride the class of which they were once a part. On Friday of the first week, to the delight of the sophomores, who were initiating them into R. R. H. S., they all showed up at school wearing apparel ranging from bath-robes to football suits. One exciting and happy occasion was their hayrack ride in October. In Nov- ember was another, when they went roller-skating at Clay Center. On September 12, Shirley Rowland came into the class asanother green fresh- man. On January 22, Lorrene Kemnitz came to school and raised the total of the freshmen class to twenty-four, ten girls and fourteen boys. This tea was given in appreciation of the many things that the Y.W.C.A. has done for our club. The Y-Teens were guests of the Y.W.C.A. at a Christmas party on December 4. The club was presented with a beautiful picture for our Y-Teen room. The main goal of the year was raising funds. This goal was reached by sell- ing Christmas cards, taking charge of the concession stand at the games, and sponsoring a rummage sale, held at Manhattan. A good deal of time this year was spent in preparation for our Mother-Daugh- ter Banquet, which was April 5. The theme was 'Violets for Remembrance.W The senior girls and Mrs. Irwin attended the fall conference, November 9, at Manhattan, bringing home the gold seal for last year's work, and many ideas to their fellow club members. Mrs. Irwin also attended an advisor's seminar at Wichita, January 26 and 27, and brought beck some very interesting ideas for im- gzgling the club, which is working for the highest Y-Teen standard, the gold The girls brought to a close their busy season, planning for the new elec- giggovgiigfficers, considering those who could lead and build a better world President ----- Joyce Malmstrom Publicity Chm. ----- Nancy Howe Vice Pres. ------ Phyllis Pfaff Music Chm. ------ -Clara Delvns Secretary ------- Charlene Bell Service Chms. ---- Alyce W011161' Treasurer ------- Iola Wendland ----- ---------- - V038 Springef' Program Chm.---Arlis Bergsten Sponsor Pianist ------- Marilyn Osbourn Worship Chmg---Marilyn Netson Mrs. Irwin Student Council Rept. ----- --- social mm, ........ David Brenner was captain of the north side and Harold Hargrave of the south side. The north side won with a compara- tively large margin. The F.F.A. officers attended an officers' training school at Clay Center, Kansas, October 16. They brought back several new ideas to help improve their chapter. The Randolph Chapter was chosen to train eight practice teachers. The senior boys and MP. Stephens journeyed to Fort Worth, Texas, to attend the Fort Worth Cattle Show on January 27.
