Our class enrollment at the beginning of the year was 26. Kay Springer and Jimmy Latham left and enrolled ln other schools. Hr. Wesley Koehler was elected class sponsor for the year. The following officers were elected for the first and second semesters: President-Lyle Pfaff--Dick Malmstrom Vice President-Arnold Hedke--Marlene Kershaw Secretary-Ruth Pate--Arnold Hedke Treasurer-Dick Malmstrom--Jackie Anderson Reporter-Marilyn Dettmer--Opal Hedren Student Council--Nancy Carnahan 1 The important social events for the year included parties andpic- n cs. le began our high school career with a great interest in athlet- ics. Ten boys lettered in football, and nine participated in basket- ball. Nine girls participated in basketball. Jackie Anderson honored our class by pla ing a piano solo at Con- cordia: larlene Kershaw and LaVerne Sump reiresented us in the mixed chorus. Jerry Schwartz transferred from Leonardville, and our Sophomore enrollment was 25. Social events for this year included a hayrack ride on Carnahan Creek and a line party at the Sosna Theatre in Manhattan. Again this year, we were well represented in athletics. Most of the boys and all the girls were in glee club. Nine were members of the band. Nancy Carnahan andMarlene Kershaw attended Y-Teen camp this sum- mer. We elected the following officers: President-Ruth Pate--Junior Mann Vice President-Arnold Hedke--Marilyn Dettmer Secretary-Jo Ann Burgman--Arnold Hedke Treasurer-Marlene Kershaw--Nancy Carnahan Reporter-Lyle Pfaff--Marlene Kershaw Student Council--Robert Springer Sponsors--Mrs. Faith Keiffer and Miss Lillie Johnson le began our Junior year with 28 members. The new members who joined our ranks were David Nordlund, Kay Springer, Jim Anderson, and Maxine lurk. Maxine left in larch to enroll at Olsburg High School. Alice Richter transferred to Barnes after her Sophomore year. Ten Junior girls were members of the undefeated girls' basketball squad. Marilyn Dettmer and Opal Hedren were chosen as cheerleaders. Ten were in band. larlene Kershaw and Marilyn Dettmer were members of the girls' sextette.. Dick Malmstrom and Milton Wendland were in the boys' quartette. Nancy Carnahan and Ruth Pate attended the Hutchinson State Fair for one wekk on a 4-H judging team. Ruth also attended in 1949. le presdnted our Junior Play, 'Aunt1e's Big Joken, November 25, 1948. Miss Hedill was the director. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held in the Methodist Church base- ment, April 29. The theme was 'Holiday Inn. KCont1nued on Next Page!
