fha Trincipafis .Message fo the Glass of 1950 There has never been a time in the history of our Country when clear thinking and strength of character were more needed than today. Through- out the world powerful agencies are attempting by every possible means to break down our sacred institutions and to destroy those great principles of democracy and liberty for which our forefathers and our own R.-M. A. sons have given their lives. It is upon the preservation of these principles that the present and future happiness and usefulness of mankind everywhere depend. Yours is a wonderful heritage-bought by the sacrifice and blood of men who believed in the right of men to be free under the guidance and pro- tection of God. It is your responsibility and your privilege to guard well this precious heritage. There is no place in America today for easy living and soft thinking. It is urgent that each of us shall be aware of the dangers that beset our way of life and that we shall be constantly alert to our opportunity and responsibility. And so, as your period of training and preparation at Randolph-Macon comes to an end, we would have you feel that this is but the beginning of the more serious and important stage of lifeis journey. It is our fervent wish that your lives shall be dedicated to useful service and that you may each know within himself that the ultimate victory will be to him who battles for truth, honor, and the freedom of mankind everywhere. ga MW
