RO-HAWKS DOWN KOUNTZE TO REACH STATE FINALS The powerful Randolph Ro-Hawks defeated the gallant Kountze Lions 14-7 on a cold and windy night on Kyle Field at Texas AXLM University in College Station. It was a tough, hard-fought game, but the Ro-Hawks came through by stopping the Lion's in the air and on the ground, As usual, the defense was superb with the offense using ball control tactics all through the game and into the final minutes, The first Randolph score came when Bruce Cannon made the clearing block to free Tom Roberdeau for a 32 yard run. The second score came after the Ro-Hawk defense caused the Lion to fumble. James Meredith made the final touchdown on a 24 yard run and Tex Allshouse passed to Andy Miller for the conversion. Allshouse barks signals in winning drive against Sweeny, RO-HAWKS EDGE DEFENDING CHAMPS- WIN QUARTER-FINALS The Ro-Hawks ulled a close frame out of the fire in the final 31 seconds to obtain their lon -awaited reven e over the P Q S S Sweeny Bulldogs 12-7, the team that beat them last year on the same level of the state playoffs. The Ro-Hawks were out- weighed, out-numbered, and out-classed in speed but it was determination and desire that halted the powerful Bulldogs giv- ing Randolph this heart warming and tearful victory at Samuel Clemmens Stadium in Schcrtz, The Ro-Hawk defense again played a stellar game by overcoming the terrific forces of the Bulldogs and halting them again and again, Linebackers Rick Trobernian and Bruce Cannon ends Keith Chauret and Ted Dra er and the front four of the line Flemin r Baum rardner, , , P . , 5, 2, lrlanseman, and Fitzpatrick, were all too much for Sweeny with their rugged hard-hitting play. The offense continually ounded the Bulldo s with uarterback Allshouse tailback Roberdeau, and fullback Meredith crashin into the line. Scores P 3 1 S were made by Rick Troberman, making a surprising drive through the line, and Tom Bice, receiving the victorious pass in the final seconds to save the ame for the Ro-Hawks.
