Super Sonic Teen was the name chosen by the Junior High Home Economics Students for their group. The officers were elected as follows: President - Lori Toelle, Vice President - Tammi Burbach, Secretary Treasurer -Tina Leiting, Publicity - Sally Burmester. Community and personal enjoyment was the basis for the activities sponsored by the group. A dress up day and the decorating of lockers were some of the monthly activities. At Christmas time, the girls went to the Colonial Manor caroling, and then returned to the school for exchanging gifts. There was also babysitting offered on parent-teacher conference. A swimming party for the summer is being planned. The girls were led by Mary Sauser. It was an enjoyable year with many fun activities. 20

speech is f t mi men Speech class had an active year. Members of the class were Bonnie Fish, Julie Pentico, Connie Nordhues, Angie Steffen, Janeen Kittle, Christal Kint, Dawn Gerkins, Don Tunink (Not Pictured), Cindy Berner (Not Pictured), and Laurie Lyon (Not Pictured). Many speeches were assigned including Informative, Persuasive, Sales, Entertainment, and many more. The Speech Students participated in two speech contests. One was NENAC at Crofton and the other was Districts at Osmond. A one act play was also presented by the speech students. The play was called VILLANELL. The year ended with puppet shows for the elementary children. The puppets were made, the plays were written, and the shows were performed by the speech class. Angie Steffen, Christal Kint, Connie Nordhues, and Janeen Kittle put on a puppet play called Dufus the Dragon Meets His Match. Briar Rabbit was put on by Don Tunink, Julie Pentico, and Bonnie Fish. The puppet play called Mr. Worry was presented by Laurie Lyon, Cindy Berner and Dawn Gerkins. 21
