FFA IS A PROMISING SHOW The FFA Chapter accomplished a great deal this year. At District and State Convention the Chapter did a very good job in their separate categories. At the District Contest, the following awards were given to: Francis Bermel - blue in Tractor Operating,- Joe Thelen - red in Tractor Operating, blue in Farm Management,- Rick Nordhues - purple in Dairy Judging, blue in Welding; Tony Van Slyke - blue in Dairy Judging,-Eric Pentico - blue in Dairy Judging,- Brent Goetsch -red in Dairy Judging, 3rd in Creed Speaking; The Jr. Dairy Judging Team - purple,- Kelly Thieman - blue in Dairy Judging, white in Ag. Mechanics,- Jeff Backer -blue in Dairy Judging, white in Livestock Judging,- Gary Gubbels - red in Dairy Judging,- Scott Sauser - white in Dairy Judging, red in Farm Management; The Sr. Dairy Judging Team - blue; Dan Thelen - blue in Welding,- The Welding Team - blue,- Hoss Hammond - red in Ag. Mechanics,- The Ag. Mechanics Team - red,- Chris Nordhues - red in Farm Management; Boyd Janssen -white in Farm Management; The Farm Management Team - blue,- John Keifer - 1st in Creed Speaking,- Stan Polenske - 2nd in Creed Speaking. At State they received: Brent Goetsch - red in Sr. Dairy Judging,- Rick Nordhues - white in Sr. Dairy Judging, red in Welding; The Farm Management Team - blue,- Joe Thelen - blue in Farm Management,- Chris Nordhues - blue in Farm Management; Joe Huwaldt - bronze in Computers in Agriculture Award ; The Chapter received The Superior Chapter Award, the Superior Chapter Safety Award, and Building Our American Community Award. Second Row: Vicki Meier, Tammy Burbach, Lisa Gubbels, Jan Korth, Teri Burbach, Angie Whitmore, Jeri Bargstadt, Teri Martin, Mary Sauser (sponsor). Third Row: Michelle May, Tina Leiting, Karla Leiting, Rhonda Stapelman, Stephanie Brunsen, Martha Brodersen, Michelle Coenen, Sally Burmester, Cheryl Moser, Cherie Maas. Fourth Row: Traci Tunink, Pam Gubbels, Shelly McDonald, Luann Lange, Julie Riedmiller, Sandi Milander, Gina Keifer, Tammy Dibbert, Holly Heegle. Super Sonic Teen was the name chosen by the Junior High Home Economics Students for their group. The officers were elected as follows: President - Lori Toelle, Vice President - Tammi Burbach, Secretary Treasurer -Tina Leiting, Publicity - Sally Burmester. Community and personal enjoyment was the basis for the activities sponsored by the group. A dress up day and the decorating of lockers were some of the monthly activities. At Christmas time, the girls went to the Colonial Manor caroling, and then returned to the school for exchanging gifts. There was also babysitting offered on parent-teacher conference. A swimming party for the summer is being planned. The girls were led by Mary Sauser. It was an enjoyable year with many fun activities. 20
