The Randolph High School Band doesn’t have all the talent, the Junior High Band has talent, too. Out of twenty Junior High Band students who went to Nor folk for contest, six students came home with Superiors. These six people made up two entries, the clarinet Trio: Becky Boling, Tammy Whitehorn, and Corrine Helsing; and the Flute Duet II: Paige Frederick, Mary Nannen and Carol Thieman. You only received Superior if you were very good. So we should be very proud of these people. Lets don’t forget the other band members though; they are very good also. Congratulations Junior High Band!!! 35 First Semester Junior High Chorus. Lori Wattier, Senior. Tim Walz, Senior. Jane Kaiser, Junior. Erin Rudebusch, Senior. Lynell Bermel, Sophomore. We are happy to announce that you have been chosen to be members of the National Honor Society of Randolph Public Schools. On May 10, six new members were inducted into Randolph’s NHS. President Byron Menke tried to auction off to them the four qualities required for membership: Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service but as Tricia Peebles was quick to point out, “You can’t BUY these! You EARN them by diligence and effort.” These six people had done just that. They took the oath and became true members. Then by “sewing” all 16 members together, Deb and Brad demonstrated another quality shared by NHS’crs . . . COOPERATION. When Deb pulled on the imaginary thread, all responded in unison. Continuing on, a feud is started between two hillbilly families: the Fernheisers, who want a recreation hall, and the Kendalls, who want a library as originally planned. This feud threatens to break up the continuing romance between Betty Su and Zeke. But it also strikes up a romance for almost old-maid Lizzie with “Bill” Bishop 111, a member of the Snodgrass Cough Drop Company. 38 At practice, these players used their time wisely But “Bill” still got fired by “Mrs. Snodgrass”. ‘Jeudin’, TightinTssin’' Drama Club members: First Row: Tricia Peebles, Jane Krueger, Janet Isom, Shelly Robinson, Marci Tunink, Sharon Heger, Miss Donna Lewis. The initiation of Bill into the life of a hillbilly, the kidnapping of Widow Kendall to silence her from telling of the conspiracy to make a recreation hall anyway, and the eventual decision of a recreation hall-library combined provided a slap-stick comedy in a truly hillbilly tradition. 39 Debbie may not have a trophy but she does have a medal to commemorate taking first place at state this year. Debbie has been to state three times in as many years, winning second place last year. “All The World Is A Stage and We are Merely Players” was her theme this year. OUR SENIOR YEAR As the 1977-78 school year comes to a close, and students clean out their lockers for the last time, as we say our last goodbye and a quick “remember to write” and as we hand in our books for the last time, we take our memories with us as we leave the doors of Randolph Public for the last time this year. But even though our nine months together are over, we’ll long remember all the special, unique experiences this year has brought to us; whether it be our trip to the State Tournaments, having a 22-1 basketball record, bringing home the many trophies, the many detentions we received, trying to make the honor roll and winning first place for Homecoming float all of our four years, Whatever the event, whenever the occasion, we’ll always have the wonderful memories of those precious moments we spent at good ole’ RHS! Our Gang In ’78 Barb Gubbels and Verlene Loberg
