BACKFIELD: HB, Darrell Schutt; HB, Darlyn Hansen; QB, Joe Hansen; WB, Darvin Rossbach; HB, Rodney Berner. It is rather a rare feat indeed that a team remains undefeated. Players and coaches are aware that to go through a season undefeated can be achieved only through the following: Most important teamwork and desire throughout the season, hard work and physical discipline, a give and take attitude, a continuing development of pride, the enjoyment of actually playing the game, very few injuries to key players, and some fine help from the two assistants Jim Blessen and Bob Andresen. Mr. Heermann said that this season has been one of the most enlightn-ing experiences in his coaching career. One that will be long remembered for years to come, all stemming from the fact that he had a great enthusiastic group of boys. COACH HEERMANN 39 BASKETBALL FIRST ROW: Don Rossbach, Coach Andresen, Coach Blessen, Darrell Dennis. SECOND ROW: Rich Graf, Jim Beltz, Ken Rath, Rod Berner, Joe Hansen, Lynn Dowling, Bill Bartels, Doug Bloomquist, Darlyn Hansen, Darvin Rossbach, David Boatman. The Randolph Cardinal's victories were against St. Frances and Wynot both being close games with only two points deciding each game. These games were also tournament games so the Cards had no wins to their credit in Lewis and Clark Conference play. Although the season ended poorly the main principle of any sport is to teach athletes physical and mental disciplines. With the help of first team coach Bob Andresen and second team coach Jim Blessen, it is hoped that these boys learned and furthered these ideals. With a promising bunch of Freshmen coming up it looks like the next few years will be fruitful for the Randolph Cardinals. The school year of 1968—1969 was once again a year of much growth and activity in the Instrumental Music Department. The Marching band rehearsed diligently for every home football game, we could only perform at one game because of rain. On Sept. 28th we marched all day at Wayne State College's Band Day, and marched at the Veteran's Day Services on Nov. 11th. We presented our Christmas Concert with the Vocal Music Dept, on Dec. 15th, and were host to the Lewis and Clark Conference Band Clinic on Feb. 3rd. The Band combined with the Vocal Music Dept, presented a Spring Concert, March 23rd. We were also host to the Dana College Band in Concert March 14th. We presented all the entries going to District Music Contest at our Pre-Contest Concert April 11th and April 25th, we returned from Contest with 3 Superior, 3 Excellent, and 2 Good ratings in the J Instrumental Dept. On May 3rd, we played at the Loyalty Day Program in the evening, and we again performed at the Memorial Day parade and program on May 30th. It was a busy year, but a good year due to much hard team work and cooperation.
