That's just about the word for us during the first few days of our Freshman year. But naturally it didn't take long for us to catch on to what was going on around us. Those eyes slipping around when it came test time and all those worn down erasers. Oh no! It didn't take us long to drift of things, including those sly little tricks. We've drifted get the along now until we are Seniors. We have lost a few of our classmates in those drifts. We started our Freshman year with 23 very green Freshmen. We had quite a time getting used to all the buzzers and new rules although we soon caught on. Of course we were initiated right away, by the Sophomore Class, which was about the most exciting thing during our Freshman year. We had lots of fun as everything was a joke. The girls had to wear bathrobes, pigtails, and men's shoes. The boys wore bathing suits, lipstick, and were barefooted. We also had an all school Christmas Party which was something new to all of us. On January 3rd, we returned from vacation to start a new semester. We gained one new classmate, Isabelle Wiechert, who came from Coleridge, Nebraska. At last, our Sophomore Year! Gee! Did we think we were smart. We got to initiate 30 green Freshmen. We started our Sophomore year by losing two of our class- mates, Raymond Sloan and Irvin Opkis, leaving us with 22 members. about the picnic at remembers. This was dullest year of all four. Nothing going on. In October we had a the bluffs. This picnic was a good one as I think almost everyone It was the best picnic we ever had. Oh dear! There went another classmate, Don Marreel moved to California with his parents. During this year there were 4 boys and 4 girls picked from our class to wait tables at the Junior-Senior Banquet. They had to dress as elves and brownies. Here is one of the most exciting years, Juniors! We now had 23 members again, gaining back our old classmate, Don Marreel, who came back from California. Oh yes! We mustn't forget Sharon von Rentzell who joined us at the beginning of this year. She came from McLean High School. We all got a big kick from looking at the many kinds of class ring displays. Anyway we missed a few classes. Finally we decided to order from Josten Co., through Andrew Time Center. During our first semester we sold magazines, and presented the class play H0h Promise Men, under the direction of Mr. Stringfellow, to help raise money Junior-Senior Banquet. We enjoyed presenting it very much, but oh month of practice beforehand. With the profit from our class play magazine sales, we were able to put on the banquet. The theme was in Parisn under the sponsorship of Mrs. Mary Petterson. Was it an for our dear! that and NAn Evening evening! We all had much fun. After the supper Carol Iler and Robert Moran were crowned King and Queen. Virginia Iler, Lester Mier, and Keith Clark, left this year, dropping us to 22. Well, at last, here we are Seniors, with a grand total of 21 members. On April llth, we presented the play HHillbilly Weddin'H directed by Mr. Morey. On April 20th, we went to Omaha on Sneak Day. On May lst, the Junior Class put on a very lovely banquet for us. The theme of it was U0riental Garden.H We seniors had our Class Night on May 9th. We willed all the juniors a little gift which I'm sure they appreciated. Our Baccalaureate was held on May 13th. At last came the final night, Commencement! We were all very happy about this, Dr. Allen P. Burkhardt from Norfolk Junior College delivered the address. At last we all received our diplomas, hoping they were signed. We Seniors have now left R.H.S. leaving behind us all our good times NClass of '57.N for the It is the year Cfaaa 12019 ec? of 19755 the graduating class of 1956 is having their reunion after all these years at the famous Knickerbacher Hotel in Hollywood, California. Let's look in on them and see what has happened in the past years. Well, well, it looks like the toastmaster of this reunion banquet is none other than R. Graffis, Governor of the State of California, who is famous for his political speeches. Here is a guest who is late. It seems that Marvin F. doesn't get out often now that he is married and has twelve children. He owns the biggest Dude Ranch this side of the Mississippi River. That lady sitting over there with her famous doctor husband is Isabelle W. Isy is one of the leading nurses in Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Did you hear that loud noise? That was Eldon R., who just drove up in one of those famous new Sliptomatic, Hydromatic cars. Eldon tells us he was' the designer of this sports car. Oh! Here is another classmate, we haven't run into in years. Sharon v. R. She is now'living in Wyoming, where she has a turkey farm. That distinguished looking gentleman sitting in the easy chair is none other than Alvin factory that produces that new dark haired lady, sitting over mates, is Carol Iler. Carol is M. Alvin is the owner and manager of the wonder-drug HAl's Sleeping Tab1ets.n That there talking excitedly to her old class- the leading interior decorator at Macy's Dept. Store. That tall blonde gentleman, with the crew cut, standing by the drinking fountain is Dean Carstens. Dean owns one of the biggest dairy farms in the Mid-West. Who is that who just came in the door? Why it's Jackie B., of course. Jackie, after completing her college education, is now employed by Walt Disney as his bookkeeper. That cheerful looking man sitting at the next table is Ken F. Ken tells us that he became tired of farming and so took up wrestling. He is very pleased after winning his bout with Gorgeous George last night. In the corner sits Beverly Kruger. Bev now runs the Johnson 8 Johnson Co., with her husband, of course. Jon Gartner has just come in and we found out, he has been testing new planes. CJet planes, that ish. Butch Bauer stopped by also and guess what he has been doing? Butch is with the Harlem Globetrotters. fTheir manager.D Angie Dowling, we've heard, has just signed up with Teachers Inc. She has just struck for higher wages. Angie teaches with one of the biggest Juvenile Deliquency schools in New York. Over by the punch bowl is Jim Lee. My! He is up to his old tricks again. He runs the Pool Halls, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alice Cunningham has just arrived with her group of boys. Alice runs the largest college dormitory for men in the world. She is just like a mother to them all. Patty Pock is sitting at the table next to us. She has been Secretary to J. Edgar the job, keeping this place is no it is no trouble good stepladder. told us his life are always on twelve doors to man, Harry says He just needs a Don Marreel, that very nice looking gentleman, has just story of the past years. Don is Co-Editor of the New York Hoover, Jr. for the last ten years. As her boss says they law and order. Coming through one of the one else but Harry Pate. A big telephone to reach the top of the telephone poles. Daily Times. Sitting over by Don is Lu Jean Zautke, one of our more success ful writers. Her latest book is NThe Pencil and the Paper.H - Well, I see the Seniors of 1956 were all successful. You'd think somebody planned it that way.
