IX englewood, ohio Another year has fled and left its footprints in the sands of time, and with it fades the memories of good times spent at Randolph. Through the pages of this annual, your book, we have attempted t recapture those precious memories in words and pictures, so that in future years you may remember and relive them again and again, As you leaf through these pages, you may recall the wonderful tint you had at the school dances, the notes you used to pass in class, am the long nights before exams spent with books, cokes, and Stan Kent A picture of the football team brings to your mind a stadium packed with fans, the beat of the green and white band, and your ow Axm ft 23' Na excitement when a Bobcat end crashed over the goal line for that winning T. D. You flip a page and there once again before you are the Bobcats, this time in basketball uniforms. Remember how excited you were at tournament time? Time speeds quickly by, and soon you are no longer a Randolph student. You leave the familiar classrooms and faces and step into an entirely new world. But when you are feeling low and need the omfort of an old friend, you have only to leaf through the pages of our annual, and recall the good times you spent at Randolph to make our day and your memories a little brighter. Some educators even contend that the extra-curricular programis the heart and soul of our total program. The mem- bers of the Bobcat staff have certainly been active. They have also run into numerous problems. But the experiences gained and the happy hours spent working together on this project will bring forever wonderful rewarding memories. The Seniors have reason to be proud of this volume of the Bobcat. It's another ex- ample of the high degree of excellence of the Class of '55, O. R. Butler, Vice President, Mr. Roland St. John, Mr. Robert Warner, President, Mrs. L. M. Light, Clerk, Mr. James R. Hutchinson, Mr. Russell Worley. The Randolph Board of Education is a very important factor in the functioning of school. They are, we might say, the head mechanics of the school, for it is up to them to keep things running smoothly. Their jobs consist of employing all personnel, Teachers are carefully chosen for their ability, not only to teach the students geography and English, but also to get along with and be respected by their students and fellow faculty members. It is the job of the board to establish all policies for the school. In so doing the Randolph board attempts to reflect the opinions of the citizens of the district. The board also must make decisions concerning important problems and projects, the most pro- minent and important project now being the erection of a new school building for the ever-increasing Randolph Township. They realize that good study facilities are an im- portant factor in the advancement of education, and they are working hard to improve such facilities at Randolgb. This board is elected by the people of the Randolph District, and services are al- most entirely voluntary. TheRandolph Board of Education is a hard-working conscientious group of citizens who have dedicated their time and effort to making sure that the students of Randolph will receive the best possible facilities and equipment they can attain. We, the students of Randolph, realize the interest that our board has taken in our welfare and advancement, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunities and privi- leges they have so thoughtfully provided for us. Four years ago, September, 1951, we entered our first year of high school Mr. Barger was our advisor and Bruce Motter, the leader of our class. During our freshman year we were very proud to be the largest class in the school. Class parties, paper drives, and bake sales were our successful money-making projects. We worked hard this year and our treasury was beginning to build up. We were soon to become a big part of Randolph as SOPHOMORESl Our advisors this year were Miss Miller and Miss Corwin. Later, Mr. Lancaster replaced Miss Corwin. With their help and the leader- ship of Mitzi Schroeder, our bankroll was really starting to bulge. We were beginning to look forward to that wonderful trip to Washington. The 'Harvest Moon Hop was our first big dance this year, and everyone worked hard to make it the success that it was. Has another year gone by already? Time is passing quickly and now we are JUNIORSI We are now learning the meaning of responsibility. Our work is harder, and again we are planning to make money. We learned to work together. Selling magazines, producing a play, and giving a Valentine dance were many things we did for the first time. Ou.r beautiful Junior-Senior Prom, Some Enchanted Evening, will always be a wonderful high school memory. Our advisors, Mrs. Brumbaugh and Mr. Cultice, and our leader, Mitzi Sch- roeder, saw and helped us through a profitable year. Now we are SENIORSI Many never-to-be forgotten moments were shared by our class this year. Spec Sanders was our leader and Mrs. Jay and Mrs. Fox, our advi- sors. We gave Holly Daze, the formal Christmas dance, and we did our best to cheer the athletic teams on to victory. Our work days and the pro- duction of our class play helped promote our trip to Washington. We are proud to have been a part of Randolph and we will long remember the good friends and gay times we have had. Our training at Randolph has helped us greatly to prepare for the future and to take advantage of the opportunities open to us. Baccalaureate and Commencement have made a. lasting impre- ssiou on us and we leave Randolph with the hope that we will be able to make it as proud of us as we have been of it. likes to sew. . . cute. . . engaged. The next day we seniors volun- teered to clean up - for a little fee, of course, to help out our financial situation. 3' To start off our senior year, Spec Sanders took the reins as class prexy. We all want to express our thanks to him for guiding us through a wonderful last year. On December 18, 1954, we seniors gave our Christmas formal, Holly Daze. It was held in the gym. We all had a wonderful time even if we did work hard getting our decorations ready. We were worn out, but the money we received made up for it, and we had fun working together. With the coming of spring came the ordering of caps and gowns and our name cards and announcements for graduation. NY' We gave George Washington Slept Here' on April 21 and 22, 1955. It really went over with a bang. Here are some seniors trying out for the various parts. I 9 iii: junior class officers Standing: Sharon Brumbaugh, Secretary, Jill Walker, Treasurer, Diane Deal. Vice Presi dent. Seated: Darlene Grier, President. It was a bright, sunny morning in September, 1952, as we ventured into our first year ofhigh school. As freshmen, we had many things to leam, but as time passed, we learned to work together. With the advice of Mr. Adkins and under the leadership of Don Ridgwey, we soon had the title of the richest freshman class ever at Randolph. We wrote the first class constitution, and were the first freshman class to sponsor a dance. All of these things faded into the past as we were SOPHOMORES! Once again things started to perk. We were very eager to get ahead, and with the help of Miss Miller and Mr. Jepsen, our activities grew more and more. Paul Herr was now president and we began organizing many different things. To make the treasury swell a little more, we sponsored our first big dance, Frosted Fantasy, but soon we were choosing our class rings, and now we are IUNIORSI It is 1955 and we are growing up fast. We have proof of this by the things we have been doing. Our first class play, 'January Thaw, was termed the best by all who saw it. Magazine sales, Cupid's Capers, and last but not least, the beautiful Junior-Senior Prom are all memories that will last forever. But let us not forget our president, Darlene Grier, and our advisors, Mrs. Brumbaugh and MI. Cultice, who led us through another year safely. This leads up to the fact that we will soon be seniors with bigger and better ideas, so be on the alert for the V CLASS OF '56 FLOYD BENTON SHELVA BOWDEN JANET BOYD SHARON BRUMBAUGH MARTHA CADE JOHN COLEMAN ELAINE DALLAS DIANE DEAL PHYLLIS DENLINGER SANDRA FARRIER KENNY GARBER DICK GRIESHEIMER PAUL HERR JEAN HORTON RAYMOND KIMMEY GARY KOLLEDA JANET LAYMAN WAYNE LOCKE COLLEEN MCATEE JOYCE MILLARD DALE MINNICH JACK NEW ELL SHARON PORTER VIRGINIA RANDOLPH Pl-IILLIP RICHISON LARRY RYAN JERRY SHERMAN BARBARA SOMERS JERRY TEBICS CAROLYN UHRIG JOE VAN KIRK JILL WALKER JOHN WEIFFENBACH RONNIE WEIST ROGER WERCKMAN NOT PICTURED: BARBARA WEST juniors MRS, BRUMBAUGH Y if Q + .. - Q 4. vii F' .. -X v-v 3- ' nz. -J s YEL 1 'O C .. .L A N' Q 37 A ' A .iam A-3-A-2 7572. - gg 5' 73' 'W' Q. We were the largest freshman class ever to enter Randolph, and poor, unsuspecting Mr. Adkins and Mrs. Stratis were given the task of controlling this energetic crowd. Annabelle Gibson was elected president. Other officers were Terry Krug, vice president Sharon Burns, secretaryg and Roger Wise, treasurer. Throughout the year we sponsored a skating party, a bake sale, and our first class dance, The Shamrock Shuffle. Our sophomore year was highlighted with our second big dance, The Starlight Whirl. Mr. Adkins was again given the responsibility of being in charge of our class, and he was assisted by Mr. Egan. This was the year when we struggled through plane geometry, biology, and world history - what a time we had. And some of the boys in our class made the football and basketball teams, and two of our girls were elected cheerleaders. We were reallycproud of all of them - and we did our share of cheering too! Fifteen students came over from Clayton and joined us, ma king us seventy-nine strong. Our president, Tom Boomershine, has done much to help us, along with Edgar Benton as vice president. They faced one of the toughest schedules a Randolph team has ever been asked to face. ' The squad, consisting of nine seniors, twelve juniors, twenty-two sophomores, and five freshmen, had only eight returning lettermen. The team showed much potential, but failed to win consistently because of inexperience and bad breaks. They finished the season with 2 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. They gained respect with every game and finished fifth in the final Southwestern Buckeye League standings.
